You fire Norm Roberts to hire Steve Lavin? Steve Lavin? I never cease to be amazed at the insanity perpetrated by athletic departments across the country.

Lavin won them over with the Big League Hair.

In all seriousness, this is just an all around dumb hire.

Do you think they were hoping for a home run hire but got rejected so many times they had to settle for Lavin?

Absolutely. They threw out that 3 million number and fished all they could in the ocean, but in the end no one bit. Then it became obvious that they just had to go back to the pond.

Which makes them look even more detatched from reality.

Off topic a bit but why don't we hear Daytons head coachs name come up for any of these openings? Seems like he is ready for the next step...

How is St. John's viewed in NYC? Meaning if they got the right guy could they keep a lot of talent?

They do play at MSG some so that's got to be appealing but I've read where it was considered more of a commuter school, but that has changed or is changing. Just curious the challenges...

His name came up at Iowa and he's been mentioned at DePaul. I think ADs were in a hurry and Dayton has kept playing, making him unavailable.

If they were going to make an iffy hire, they could've at least gone with Mark Jackson.

St. John's is, was , and will always be the city's college team. The right guy can win national championships there.
