If I was a Michigan fan, I'd be disappointed with how this coaching search has gone...unless I'm mistaken, UM hasn't made an offer yet to anyone, and Kevin Stallings is now the top candidate?

I know he coached under Gene Keady and Roy Williams, but he's not half the coach that either one of those guys are. And now he's too good for a formal interview? Without an interview, his work is all he has to represent himself -- and he's won 57% of his games at Vanderbilt, and he's finished above .500 in the SEC in just one of his years in Nashville! If I were the Michigan AD (Bill Martin, I think), I'd move on with my search.

I would think Michigan would try and target a star among the mid-major ranks ... like a Gregg Marshall, etc.

FSR reported today that John Beilein was the leading candidate, and that UM had formerly requested permission from WVU to interview him after the NIT.

There is some question as to the buyout requirements at WVU, as it could cost any school that hires him $2.5 million to get him out of his current contract.

Piecing together the various reports that are circulating, it appears Michigan expects Beilien's buyout to be prohibative, thus leading to Stallings being their leading candidate. I would expect Chris Lowery's name to continue to be associated with the Wolverine job as well.

On a completely unrelated note, has anyone else noticed that Chris Meyers has to suck the spit back into his mouth after every sentence? It does not make for good radio.
