These are Fulmers stats I think these should be the Minimum Standards we are willing to except.

Vs top 25
41-41-1

Vs top 10
11-29-1

1/1 against top 25 teams
1/3 against top 10 teams

Add the jump into the SEC and their staff that they will bring and recruiting capabilities. There should be a minimum set of years for stability purposes.
Anyone besides Fulmer.

Please do not turn this into a Fulmer Thread we have plenty of them already!!!!!

Our standards are closer to 94-01 than 02-08.'probably a mix between them that leans towards 94-01 would satisfy the sane fan. Fulmer was getting spanked by our main rivals from 02-08 which is unacceptable and damaged the stats you posted pretty severly and got him fired. We don't have to match our greatest decade with greatest player we've ever had but I'd like something above .500 against top 25 opponents.

Min 3yrs.. Win the games you should and get an upset or 2. Prove you can handle game day decisions and not get severly out-coached. Show capability to recruit well, TN should be top 10 in recruiting regularly. Prove you can evaluate and develop talent as well as keep the kids out of trouble and committed to the program and team. Some of those are
clearly subjective so here would be my min. Expectations: Bowl game all 3yrs, avg. top 10 recruitng classes (little leeway here since coming in Dec.), min.'of 5-4 against top 3'rivals, avg of 8-9 W's.

He never competed against equal - better talent on a consistent basis.

He had a very good record early on due to the fact the the SEC was down. It was a TN - FL battle, then everyone else for a few years.
As the other SEC teams improved, Fulmer starting losing to them.

we need a coach that can beat those numbers.
Are there any coaches that we can get that has better numbers?

Aside from all the Fulmer junk, I actually kind of agree with you.

We need to find a coach that can go toe-to-toe with Saban and Alabama. We can't just say we want someone to go 8-4/9-3 every year just because it's better than Dooley.

I'll take 9-3 every year for at least 5 years to forget about these past 5 years.

Nice research. I would guess that most of that against the top 10 stats are vs SEC schools right? Yes it's 8-25-1 vs SEC top 10 and 3-4 against teams out side the SEC.

Yeah you're right, it's a lot more fun going 1-7 in conference and getting bent over by Vandy. We are obviously way too good to settle for a measley 9-3 record.

Get a grip.

If would like to use those numbers go ahead.
Do you have a name of an available coach that we can get that can beat those numbers.

There are coaches with better numbers, but can we get them up on the hill.
