At quick glance, I didn't see this being discussed.
I know the Sugar Bowl, when the SEC Champ is in the title game (like always...), routinely takes the At large SEC team to represent the conference. Why in the world is the Rose Bowl projecting to take Wisconsin (obviously) and NOT Stanford? I feel like it would be the perfect time to still get that old-fashioned Big 10/Pac 10 showdown, and the Rose Bowl is just shatting all over that tradition.

Anyone know of a legitimate reason for why they wouldn't take nearby Stanford?

I think the rose bowl has to take the highest ranked non aq team.

Not to snap, but it's been discussed the nth time here.

The Rose Bowl is contractually obligated to take the highest-ranked non AQ school in the case the Big Ten or Pac-10 has a participant in the national championship game this year.

Gotcha.

I wasn't lying, I did no more looking than checking out thread titles and going for it. Seems like a horrible idea on their part, though. Were they just assuming that when 1 team makes the 'ship that nobody else would be available for an At Large berth?

Also, what if someone else takes them first? Or does nobody else have that opportunity?

It's a done deal. Like milo said, the only way it would have been Pac-10/Big-10 is if neither school had placed a team in the NC Game OR if a Non-AQ had made it to the NC Game.

Too bad. Stanford/Wisconsin would be a lot of fun.

Not gonna lie, I kinda wished Wisky was in it over either Auburn or Oregon.

There's just something about a team that lines up in the Ace or I formation and just grinds it out. There's no real misdirection. It's not making you guess whether one of 4 people has the ball. It's just good ole' fashioned gridiron. I would love to see that brand of football smack the read option in the face.

Nope.

Read option and mediocre defenses face eachother to determine the best in the land.

SEC and Big Ten fans everywhere are ****ting bricks.

Trend or aberration?

A blip IMO. These things come and go, as part of the evolution of the game. Things fell into place this year.

I long for the old school single back, not the older school single wing.

Isn't there a revolving pecking order amongst the BCS bowls also that determines some of the matchups? Isn't that what shipped UConn to the Fiesta Bowl and Ohio State to the Sugar Bowl instead of vice versa?
