1. Oregon players were pretty upset with how poorly they played against Cal. They are definitely focused on getting better each day. This team is hungry right now.
2. Stanford has been circled on Duck calendars for a long time given last year and the year before.
3. Oregon's defensive line spent a lot of hours in the off season bulking up to handle physical offensive lines and stop the "power running game". See the Michigan St game. MSU is probably the best power rushing team the Ducks have faced this year and Oregon held MSU to about a 100 less rushing than they are averaging this season.
Other less significant factors are that it is a 4:30 pm kickoff at Autzen in NOVEMBER. That means it could be a damp cold evening with possible rain. Weather is predicted to be a HIGH of 54 with a low of 45 with 40% chance of rain and 73% humidity. So it will FEEL cold California kids that practice in California weather don't always adjust well to the damp evenings in the Northwest.
Stanford hasn't beaten a ranked team this year.
Oregon seems to be getting a few injured players back..... Oregon is starting to get a bit more on the healthy side of things.
Granted I'm not an ALL knowing football wizard like some fans. But I have played a lot of sports in my life and it feels like the Ducks are on the rise at this time in the season.
I don't usually get this confident. With Royce Freeman pounding the ball up the field for the Ducks, Oregon has another Jonathan Stewart type runner. This physical style will take some of the quickness out of the Stanford defense and that frees up the passing game and outside running game. Stanford will be facing it's first well balanced offense of the season.
