StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that production has begun on Star Wars Resistance, an exciting new animated adventure series about Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance and tasked with a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order. It will premiere this fall on Disney Channel in the U.S. and thereafter, on Disney XD and around the world.

Featuring the high-flying adventure that audiences of all ages have come to expect from Star Wars, Star Wars Resistance — set in the time prior to Star Wars: The Force Awakens — will feature the beloved droid BB-8 alongside ace pilots, colorful new characters and appearances by fan favorites including Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma, voiced by actors Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie, respectively.

I honestly didn't think we'd get a new show this quick. The only thing that is going to suck is that it is going to be anime style. I really liked the 3D styling of the Clone Wars and Rebels.

There is a lot of ground to make up between Ep. VI and VII. I'm curious to see the back story and how it evolves.

I’m sure this will be good but I was really disappointed by this announcement. For one I’m not an Anime fan so that doesn’t excite me. And the tease of Ashoka and Sabine going to search for Ezra is by far what everyone really wants to see.

Looking forward to this! But what I'm REALLY looking forward to is the live action Star Wars series.

I actually like the animation more than I thought I would. Trailer certainly has some camp to it but in Filoni I trust. Both CW and Rebels looked pretty goofy at first and turned out to be great.

I never could get over the animation for Clone Wars. However the new TMNT animation is the worst I've seen in a while for something I wanted to watch.

By the way that kids voice isn't that the same actor that did Ezra in Rebels? It sounds like it.
