I do the same thing. I also never use a debit card because the $$ is gone unlike a credit card.

The pay at the table machines do away with the thieves that take your credit card away for 10 minutes and photograph each side of your card with their phones.

Got them in all of my restaurants. It's cut down on fraud big time. Not to mention the incidents where the server accidentally drops your credit card in the trash can. That happend every weekend. Kicking over trash cans and digging through trash on a busy dinner service blows.
