I've seen a couple articles like this. I know there are many diamonds in the rough and players that are not evaluated properly. But I think a major overlooked reason for why so many 2 and 3 star guys are being drafted high is that there are much fewer players that are given 4 and 5 stars than 2's and 3's. So if some of the 5's don't pan out, as often happens, there aren't many of them left around to get drafted.

All these articles are horribly misleading when they fail to mention that there are like 3,000 guys rated as 2* and 3* every year and only about 300-400 4* and 5* prospects per year. Because of a sheer numbers advantage alone, there should always be an equal or greater amount of 2* and 3* guys getting drafted.

What they should focus on is what percentage of 2* and 3* recruits get drafted in comparison to what percentage among 4* and 5* guys get drafted.
