Lately it seems that we are getting some quality innings out of two of our starters but I am not yet sold on Lingo as one of the starters. Just my opinion but it doesn't seem like he is consistent enough and right now he cannot go deep enough into a game. Also, his FB doesn't seem to have much run on it and SEC batters love 91mph heaters that have no movement. Like one of the announcers noted a few weeks ago, when he is throwing strikes it seems like they are right over the center of the plate. His command issues keep coming back to get him during critical times too. These are all things that can be fixed and I am sure they will be but they aren't there yet.

I would love to see Will Heflin get a chance as a starter. He reminds me of the Missouri freshman (Sikkema) that is one of the SEC leaders in KOs and ERA, while throwing FBs in the low to mid 80s. The Gist kid at uGA is the same type of pitcher and he is having a fantastic year too. It is NOT all about velo! Give me a mentally tough kid that can hit spots and has movement any day of the week.

I am also wondering why they are not letting Lingo bat some. He is a fantastic hitter that can hit with power and average. If he hasn't been working on hitting I am sure it is too late this season but I wish they would work his bat somewhere in the line up next year.

LIngo is a very solid Sunday starter. Just don't pitch him on Friday and he will be fine.
He's a freshmen power arm so he is naturally going to be inconsistent.

This. Also worth mentioning, it is really nice having the pitching depth this year that allows us to go with a young power arm on Sunday versus years past where we have had to try and flip the rotation with hopes of getting one win in a weekend series.

Not entirely true. He pitched 1 2/3 innings on Friday night and then came back and started on Sunday. Vols basically came up at least one pitcher short on Sunday.

Yes to both

Lingo is good, will get even better with experience.

To ZPs point, the much needed one more pitcher Sunday in the Swamp was in left field.
