Inexperienced, undersized up front, and slow.
Tennessee depth chart reflects Volunteers' youth
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.: Vols defense deals with lack of experience, size - College Football - MiamiHerald.com
Agree to disagree then.
Same faces atop the depth chart as last season in the secondary except Mosely and Johnson has never wowed anyone with his speed.
Actually you are wrong. Swafford at safety is alot faster than mcneil. Reeves maybin is faster than sapp. All the young guys rotating in will add speed as well. I've also heard the coaches say multiple times how much faster we are on d.
If we can stop the run, "we gon be gud."
Linebacker play is the key to stopping the power running teams, like "bama, Georgia and South Carolina. Vols should be solid, if not spectacular, against the smash mouth types, because of AJ Johnson.
Speed to the edge is the key against teams like Auburn, Ole Miss and Utah St. If these kids can swarm to the ball and have 2 or 3 defenders in the neighborhood to bracket runners on the edge... the defense will hold it's own.
Athletically, the Vols defense is now in the same league with their SEC counterparts.
These guys just need to focus on swarming to the ball and tackling well. Tackling well means an offense has to run more plays to score. If they make an offense run a lot of plays, penalties and turnovers will kill their drives.
