states that pay no taxes.

Here's a real world truth. One of the main reasons I decided to come back to TN and move my businesses was due to state income tax and city tax. My city tax was up to 2% and my state tax was being rumored on going up again. Some of the employees I brought with me, which caused Ohio to lose tax revenue. The rest I let go and I'm not sure where they work now. The rest I hired here. Nissan did the same thing last year and there are others that are following.

We have a sales and use tax that is close to 1 1/2 of the national average to offset no state income tax. Our tax burden is still lower than just about any state but not by as much as it would seem.

With being in the process of moving to Michigan, I feel like I'm the guy that didn't get the memo and is going the wrong way :). I could have taken the job in Texas, which does have a better tax situation, but the location with regard to my wife's family was worth the extra taxes.
