I took these numbers and extrapolated what I am calling the efficiency of these offenses and defenses.

Imo the yards dont really matter for either, what matters is the points. So some teams will look better in certain light than they will under my metric. In both cases its yards/points. So on offense the most efficient is a small number, it only takes X yards to get 1 point. And its flipped on defense, it takes the opponent X yards to get 1 point.

This doesnt take into account points on special teams or defense, short fields, things like that. But it's for both offense and defense.

Offense:
T1: UT 11.5
Bama 11.5
3: USC 12.4
4. UGA 12.6
5. MSU 12.7
6. LSU 13.0
7. Ole Miss 13.5
8. UF 13.7
9. Vandy 13.8
10. UK 14.6
11. Mizzou 15.3
12. Arkansas 15.4
13. A&M 16.3
14. Auburn 16.5

Defense.
1. UGA 23.3
2. UT 17.9
3. A&M 17.2
T4. Bama 16.6
Ole Miss 16.6
6. LSU 16.1
7. UK 15.9
8. UF 15.7
9. Ark 14.8
10. USC 14.3
11. MSU 14 2
T12. Mizzou 13.3
Auburn 13.3
14. Vandy 13

This puts into perspective for me just how good some of these teams really are. UGAs defense stands out, 5.4 difference to the next holy cow. That is a huge difference, the next biggest drop is .9 on either offense or defense.

I think South Carolina offense is a big beneficiary of "Beamer ball" points which still count.
