Read the comment. No one said unnatural love for sheep but you.

Love and attraction. Your meaning was there. It's as obvious as a desire to point it out in the first place. You seem to pick up on all the sheep comments. I'd flip and wonder why you ask? Offended?

How quickly things change...

Only one short year ago most were praising Fulmer for his best coaching job in years. We finished ahead of expectations playing in the SECCG, winning our bowl game in convincing fashion and landing a consensus top 3 (and #1 by many) recruiting class. I don't remember seeing all the Fulmer bashing last year.

Are we sheep for believing the man who took us to the promised land for the first time in 47 years could take us back in the next 5? And who honestly expects that after 13 years, the vast majority of which we spend in the top 20 if not top 10, we're going to suddenly plummet to a perennial 5-6, 6-5 program? I'll admit that 2002 was pretty mediocre, but only 1 year ago the man had one of the best coaching jobs in his career. All of a sudden he can't coach anymore? Please. Maybe he got a little complacent, maybe. But if so, I'm sure last season will fix that.

He's earned the right for another year and determine his legacy. I want us to win as badly as anyone, BELIEVE ME. Give the man another chance, its all on the line in '06. If we don't come strong next year - then lets have this discussion.

Great post, Vol. I agree with everything you said.

And besides, everyone remembers what happened in 97, right? National Title contenders, Peyton Manning leading the Vols to the game for his senior year, blah blah. Turns out, we didn't turn out as planned. But guess whath happened in '98. Honestly, I think the Vols play bad when they're expected to be good, and maybe visa-versa.

As long as Fulmer doesn't blow next year, He'll stay. I think him and everyone learned that rotating a QB is BAD, and that disicpline really is a top-priority.

My predictions for next year: two to four losses.

I agree, we tend to play better when we're against all odds rather than as the favorite. I'd be ectstatic with 2 losses next year.

I say with the recruting class that we had last year ,and with what is coming back, and with what we will pick up this year and wih the prodigal son  (Coach Cutt) returning home, we will not lose no more than one game or maybe not lose at all!

Gimme a jack and coke and I might agree with you. Unfortunately, my head tells me that with our schedule we'll lose a few.

Well we have major talent and now Cutt is back, we're contenders again. You guys are looking at what has happened in the last couple of years. Well our defense was not all that bad, it was the offense that couldn't get going. However that will change now and trust me we may go undefeated next year. I know it sounds far fetched but I am holding on to my faith in my VOLS !

I personally don't have a problem with those optimistic for next year. I myself am optimistic. My problem is with the line of thinking that last year was just one down year. It wasn't. My problem is with those who say that and can't come up with anything to respond to those who disagree with comments like nancy, bandwagon, bashers, bammers, etc.

I can't wave a magic wand and forgive last season. I can't forgive letting a program slide for several years to the breaking point. I question Fulmer's judgment. He has taken us to the top but at the same time after he did that he sent us to the bottom. I can't give someone a free pass for winning one national title in 98 and then take the top recruiting classes in several years and the top talent only to see them decline into unskilled, undisciplined abyss.

He finally made the needed changes. I think these changes were for the better. But in the back of my mind I will always hold a doubt for waiting so long. I sure hope he does bring us out of this. I think he is capable of it. But I think had we won 2 more games, no chanes would have been made. Did Fulmer make needed changes because he CHOSE to or he HAD to? We will never know. All we have is hope for next year. Until then both sides of this argument will continue. Each win or loss will bring an "I told you so!" from either side. We'll see more insults, agreements, and everything else you can imagine. But who cares? Right?

Now that I look at our 2006 schedule, we can run the table, if we can get by Georgia in the Athens, then we can run the table. The Cal game will be a test!

Hey I think our program nosed dived when Sanders went to offensive coordiantor. We were so predictable, even in The National Championship, his play calling sucked. The defense held FSU in check. The offense had a mediocre faring besides the long pass to P. Price. I blame Sanders, he was incapable of filling Cutt Shoes and now that Cutt is back, we will return to dominace. I think John Chavis does a fair job on defense, you really can't fault defense because our offense kept them on the field.

I think we can beat UGA. They'll be weaker. Plus we own Sanford Stadium.

Well we should run the table. Everybody is complaining about this year's recruiting class. But what about the number one class that we had last year, and some of those players should be ready to play.

Isn't that what we said last year, only then with Florida and LSU?

And this is 2006, not 2005. I don't see Georgia being contenders next year. Our toughest games, IMO, are the Florida game (Knoxville), LSU (Knoxville), South Carolina (Columbia), and Cal (Knoxville). Also, watch out for that Arkansas game, they're not going to be no joke next year, especially at Fayetteville.

And I see no table running next year. All Fulmer needs to do is get the program back to where it should be. We're not going to be ranked in the top 25 in next years pre-season poll. Maybe not even in the top 30-40. A rebuilding season, if you want, is all we need. Two-Three losses are acceptable, and if we only get that many, honestly, I will be happy. 2007-2008 will be our years.

Georgia wasn't supposed to be that great this past year. But someone always steps up and exceeds expectations, it was us in '04, hopefully it will be us again in '06.

The Cocks have a few good players leaving early along with some graduating. UGA will be weak. The Gators might be the only thing strong in the East. They're losing a few but gaining a lot as well. It will be interesting for Leak's learning curve. If he flops or gets intense pressure, the Gators will be beatable. The West will be what the East was a few years ago.

Naw not the old we will be good in a few years ad, not going to buy that one! At home, we shouldn't drop a game. The fans should be more of a 12th man on the field and cause trouble for the other team. There is usually 106.000 of us out there, so lets become that 12th man and help out more.

Georgia lucked out on a weak East. They didn't dominate the division. They just were better than the rest of the mediocre East. Spurrier was very close to making the trip to the Dome if that says anything.

What the Cocks lack in talent, they make up for it in coaching. I've believed this forever, and I still do, Spurrier is the best coach in the SEC, if not in College Football. Don't think that USC had a winning season, and beating 2 big-time SEC East teams (Florida, UT) by chance.

And Florida is going to be a HUGE favorite for the SEC East next year. They have one of the best recruiting class with athletes like Tim Tebow, and they are returning alot of players on Defense and Offense. Expect them to be top 10 all through pre-season.

Ya well, they sure did take it to LSU.

And look what LSU did to Miami....

And what did WVU do to UGA.....up 28 points on THAT defense??? I was ready to write off the Big East and demand they get ripped out of the BCS. That game killed that thought.

My problem deals with people posting the same crap over, over, and over again and feel the need to continue doing it then wondering why everyone is calling them out on how they are acting.

Quit posting garbage and you won't be mocked.

That simple

This is a good post spin.

I agree with you 100% about the motivation of why the changes were made...and honestly i think the changes were made because he had to. I've said it many, many times, there was nothing to hide behind this year...in years past he had 8, 9, 10 wins and bowl appearance as proof that it wasn't all bad. this year, none of that was there, and the faults of this program were exposed....had we beaten Vandy or Bama, it's very likely that none of the changes would have been made. But just as you say, he did make the changes, the timing of them can't be helped and neither can the motivation for why they were made....and for now he gets the chance to right the ship.

This post is exactly what i've been getting at all along...we all aren't that far off in our views...i like you am just tired of labeling of people on this board as sheep, zealots, kool aid drinkers, etc... who have an opinion different of their own, and those folks know who they are.

Well said.
