Stay in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg Easter Wknd?

I'm planning a trip to this area on Easter Weekend with my 7 and 4 year olds. It will be a Friday afternoon, leave Tuesday kind of deal. Was thinking I would do a couple days in Pigeon Forge (Dollywood, Wonderworks, Pigeon Forge Snow) and a couple in Gatlinburg (Anakeesta, Ripley's, OberGat, etc). Dollywood is closed on Easter. Everything else is open. I really don't want to have to move the whole family after 2 days from one town to another.

Better to stay in Pigeon Forge and commute to Gatlinburg, or vic versa?

With kids that age, I think you would spend more time in Pigeon Forge so I’d probably look there first. Probably a wider range of lodging and prices in Pigeon Forge than Gatlinburg. It will be very crowded in both locations over Easter weekend.

Wonderworks is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! I love that place!!

We'll be up there the weekend before and the weekend after. Our place is in Pigeon Forge. We usually drive up to Gatlinburg at least once and just walk around (or ride the lift to the bridge if the weather is nice.) The aquarium is nice too.

Pigeon Forge will have more to do for kids, but it is more spread out for driving. Gatlinburg will have less for that age but can be walked too easily. Both will offer enough for your kids. It depends on whether you want to be on foot in GBurg or drive more in PF.
