:banghead: Now the players can't go up in the stands to thank the fans for coming to the games. The fans can't go on the floor to thank the players for playing a great game. Man they are trying to take all the fun away from this team. I think Coach Pearl is quite a salesman and is trying to put a little glue in the program by getting the players and fans on a first name basis. Seems like everything he is trying someone is blocking. IMO Coach Pearl you keep doing what you are doing. Go up in the stands with your players. Fans go out on the floor and celebrate with the players after a great game. Its working, lets not mess with success.

Normally, I would agree with you on that one, I just read the article by Chris Low on it.

With all the problems occurring in the stands, I think they should have sent someone up to the fans and had them come down.

Alcohol, drunk fans, close home loss against rival, etc. etc. never a good mix.

V. I think what the team was fine. No one was in danger and the arena was almost cleared out.

Pearl is a different kind of guy. He is trying to rebuild a floundering program. He and his players wanted to thank the fans for their support. I will stand behind Pearl and the players.

:dunno: From what I have heard, the place was basically empty, save the UT throng. Seems to me that yet another mountain is being made out of yet another molehill.

Get over it, people. The Bruce is loose, Vol Hoops is on the map, and we're going nowhere but up. Let the friggin' kids enjoy a big road win with their faithful roadies. It is a GAME, you know?

As a CPA, I've been involved with numerous arena and stadium personnel dealing with this issue. The big concern is safety and litigation. As soon as a drunk fan gets into it with a player, the lawsuits start flying. It is just impossible for the arena security to handle a situation like this. The arena's insurance would go through the roof if this were allowed on any sort of regular basis. I would actually have been surprised if GA had not raised a stink about this. In fact, I am very proud of the UT AD for taking the first step to help the GA arena folks save some face. This was handled with class on both sides. Insurance rates are high enough without having these sorts of situations driving the overall risk through the ceiling.

I know it sounds stupid - but in our era of litigation, this just can't happen.

the SEC office got one lousy phone call from a UGA fan...that's it.

this is no big deal....but even BP admitted that he didn't intend for them to go in to the stands....oh well....

I understood the rule was for AWAY games. They can still go into the stands at home can't they?

Oh sure, I assume you mean when they walk through the students to take the court. That can certainly continue.

This whole thing was yet another mountain out of yet another molehill to me.
