ESPN - A's owner: Oakland site 'out of question' - MLB

The co-owner of the Oakland Athletics says the team has ruled out remaining in Oakland as it pursues a new ballpark in Fremont, Calif., about 30 miles away.

"We don't want to move. We don't want to start pitting cities against each other, but it's out of the question we'll stay in Oakland," Lew Wolff said Monday after giving an address and answering questions at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco.

Thoughts?

The California A's?

They should move the Dodgers back to Brooklyn, contract the Mariners, and move the Angels to Tampa and the Giants to Miami , get rid of the 2 Florida teams.

Or send the Giants and Angels to good markets where people want to watch baseball, that isn't on the west coast. I hate 10PM starts.

Move the A's back to Philadelphia.

As a huge A's fan, I'd love to see the A's come back to Philly. Only good thing about going to see the Phillies play is the Connie Mack statue you pass by on your way in.

However, Fremont is literally just down the street, the name change is a bit premature, but I'll be a fan nonetheless. The plans for the new stadium seem really cool. I don't know why anyone would want to play baseball in McAfee anyways.

I've seen a boatload of games at McAffee Coliseum. It is as bad a baseball venue as I've ever patronized.

First Hammer goes bankrupt and now the A's are leaving and all they're left with is Al Davis. Oakland just can't catch a break.

would you rather have a baseball team in Oakland or Fremont and get that much closer to the Silicon Valley? Of course last I heard, Fremont is home to quite a diverse population. I have no idea if that will help or hurt a baseball team.

oh, to have a spare 300 million laying around....

if I won the lotto tomorrow, I'd be the most hated man in Northern Cali.

and we'd all be welcoming the brand new Nashville Athletics.

hey, a Lifelong Tennessean and A's fan can dream, can't he?

I'd be excited. But i doubt enough Northern Californians care enough about the A's that you'd be the most hated. I'll throw in 10 bucks to help you move them here if that helps.

yeah... "Mount Davis" completely ruined the only good part about the Colisseum.

but you'd still have two Florida franchises with an apathetic fanbase.
