This guy really believes the stuff he's selling and putting 23 years of credibility on the line. Some very compelling radio (starting at about the 15 minute mark). He's emphatic and seems to be pounding his fist as he says that Gruden would have been here already if they could have agreed on coaching staff salaries.

Coaching staff money makes no sense at all as a derailing factor.

If the deal is in fact dead I am surprised that a better excuse cannot be brought out.

We came so close to getting Gruden.

The sticking point was money for assistant coaches.

It could have been resolved. The money was there.

Hart should have paid them.

Blaming somebody else because he has been proven wrong. Of course he isn't wrong. Somebody else screwed it up.

Typical. And the type bs we will see on this thread in the next couple weeks.

Now there is your prediction you can gamble on.

He is getting tons of traffic and followers $$$$ with his talk lately. He can say what he wants and it will never be officially proved right or wrong.

He's playing to the crowd. Anyone that seems to be credible isn't agreeing with this info.

Gruden either demanded too much in the contract negotiations or he didn't really want to come. I can say that Hart isn't going to get himself fired for just money that was already stated to be there.

Common sense would disagree with him.

Not disputing the fact that the staff salaries were going to be in the neighborhood of $5 million... interesting.

IMO, Gruden may have had a passing interest in UT; but with MNF being in Phily this past Monday, Jeffery Lurie probably had a conversation with Gruden about the HC position for next season. Gruden lost his wood for UT, given the potential $$$ in the NFL (and the Phily job which is where he cut his teeth in the NFL). To blow any negotiations, Gruden asked for crazy $'s for assistants...deal over. I don't think its that Hart would not pony the money requested, it's that Gruden was really not that interested and tried to find a way out of this situation. How do I know this..I don't. I do not have any sources. Just a guess. Gruden is an NFL man. Phily, Dallas, SD jobs will open this season. Good year to be an NFL coaching free agent.

The truth is Gruden was only half as interested in coaching here as we were at wanting him to coach here. There are tons of reports saying Gruden never had more than a passing interest, and that may have been more so as a negotiating tactic for an NFL job.

But the most common opininion out there is that Gruden simply loves to be wooed. It was a long shot that he was coming here anyways. People placing this on Hart's shoulders are the same ones who drunk the kool-aid from the "sources" saying it was a done deal multiple times and saying we offered him ownership in the Browns, something both sides (and the Browns) vehemently denied.

You got your hopes up based off internet rumors and faulty info from sports reporters and their "sources."
