Stephen King returns to the big screen...In a big way.

Along with a "The Dark Tower" Trilogy. Directed by Ron Howard. "The Stand" is possibly getting the same three movie deal. Man with modern film making either could be as big as any three series films to date.

So looking forward to both. King is the true modern master.

Seems there will be a TV series in between the first two movies in the dark tower series.

Dark Tower would make a very good movie.

On the topic of King, I swear his wife tabitha began writing his books after Needful things. If you look at the style of his early works such as the Bachman Books and The Shining etc and then compare it to Geralds's game and on there is a huge difference. Not a growth in writing style difference but a completely different feel. I think he began giving his wife his ideas and she put them down on paper.

Kings early works are some of the best books of that era. Roadwork was amazing.

Sometimes I wish I could have my memory swiped on things I've watched or read so I could go enjoy them again for the first time. Grave Yard shift would be one of the first books I picked up. Short stories are like a good F***. You get all the right stuff in without the long drawn out filler crap.

I hope they are made better because most of the movies made from Stephen King books are not so great. Pet Semetary is one of the few that was decent. On the opposite side you have Dreamcatcher....definitely one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

The exceptions are films based on his non-horror writings. Shawshank Redemption, Stand By Me, The Green Mile, even Hearts of Atlantis was pretty good. Also most of the mini-series are pretty good, although some haven't aged well. I went back and watched It last year and it wasn't as good as I remember. The Stand is pretty good.

The biggest problem to me is when you read King's stuff, it's crazy but it works. Trying to translate that to the big screen just doesn't work sometimes. Using your imagination is what makes a lot of his stuff scary, but when they bring it to the screen they just screw it up. Which is what happened to Dreamcatcher; the story I thought was kind of cool but the movie.......eh.....

Loved The Stand as a book. It has a lot of potential to be a good movie. Never read the dark tower series but i've heard good things. Hope they do justice to The Stand.
