What is ever one thoughts on "The Old Ball Coach" being back in the SEC? I will not be suprised if the South Carolina Gamecocks contend for the SEC Eastern Division.

We all said that was a long shot...

Some coaches in the Eastern division, I think it was Fulmer and Richt, have pretty much figured out Spurrier's style. He will obviously refine it, but I doubt any major overhauls are in order.

Top that on far weaker recruiting than the sheer pool of talent that is Florida, and the team's talent goes down as well.

All in all, I think Spurrier will keep the team in 3rd or 4th place in the SEC East. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and predict one trip to the SECCG in the next five years.

Corso said it best in that SC is the seventh best team in the conference and much passing makes the game even longer. This may bode poorly for the "old ball coach." I'm glad he is back and respect him greatly. He is the best ingame, sideline coach I've seen on the offensive side of the ball. One thing is true about him going there though, we can rightfully call him a 'Cock now. :dlol: :dlol: :dlol:

I am going to say this (you can put me on the record for this), the South Carolina Gamecocks will contend for the SEC title and the national title within the next 5 years.

I might start warmly refering to Suprrier as "The Ol' Ball Cock."

And I guess pigs will also start flying around this time, right?

In 5 years SC might contend for an SEC Title but I doubt it and as for an NCAA Title HAHAHAHAHAHA aint gonna happen. In 5 years look for Spurrier to hang it up with 0 SEC Titles and 0 NCAA Titles and 37 wins total

A lot of the things he disliked about coaching at UF are in place at SoCar (rabid boosters, intense recruiting, national title expectations each year).

I agree. 4 or 5 years tops. He'll tire of the job, but that Augusta membership will last for the rest of his lifetime. I think he could have had much more success at Chapel Hill. I was hoping he'd go there instead.

SC is everything Spurrier wanted: Still in the SEC East to be a fly in the ointment for TN, a pain in the ass for Foley(who will more than likely end up jobless within 5 years if FL doesnt make a big turnaround), and he still gets to play a Bowden in his last regular season game each year. Did you notice in his interview on ESPN he made it a point to say he wasn't offered the job at FL? He is getting at Foley with his little jabs now. I for one am glad he is back. If he can come in and do what he did at FL, it will just make Tennessee a better team(even if Spurrier were to be able to beat us every year, although I am definitely hoping it doesn't come down to that). I wish him the best of luck(except against the Vols, of course). I do believe he can get the Cocks to the SECCG, but 5 years may be pushing it. Lets say within 7. By the way, I love the new nick u came up with there:
THE OLE BALL COCK. ROFLMAO

Can't contend without the horses, and Spurrier has never been a big fan of recruiting - I laugh out loud at the thought of him kissing some 18 year old kid's butt. :eek:lol:

At SD he doesn't have the advantage of instate talent like he did at Florida. Further, his reputation as being a 'cock is getting around. I don't think kids are going to flock to SC to play for him.

If SC can suplant TN, GA, or FL as 3rd place in the east I'll be suprised. Holtz couldn't do it either.

Steve Spurrier brought some of his closest staffers and family members with him to South Carolina. Spurrier said his son, Steve Spurrier Jr., would leave his position at Arizona and join his dad as South Carolina receivers coach, probably by Tuesday. Mark Smith, with Spurrier at Florida and in the NFL with the Washington Redskins, will take over the strength program and Jamie Speronis, with Spurrier at Florida, joins as director of football operations.

According to a friend of mine in Columbia, the media got their first taste of Steve's magnetic personality today. A woman asked what the reasoning was behind his personnel moves and he replied, "I didn't know I needed a reason. I just did it because I can."

FSU fans hated the Visor about as much as we did.

My favorite thing is to hear the Cocks talk about their new coach... you'd think it was the Second Comming! They thought the same thing about Holtz. It didn't happen. These guys act like he's going to perform a miracle and win 30 games in two seasons! It's like feeding a crowd with two fish and a loaf of bread! Only the Lord himself could perform such miracles.

Crazy cocks... I listen to the Jakyl song "She Loves my Cock" every time we play them. Gets the juices flowing.
