Tony Stewart wants Cup Series to race on Watkins Glen's boot - NASCAR - Sporting News

“I enjoyed the long course,” Stewart said. “I’d never been around it till today. I told (NASCAR executive and pace car driver) Brett Bodine when we got out of the car after our setup runs that I would like the opportunity to see us having a shot at running the long course.

“I think it would create more passing opportunities, for sure, and it’s just such a historic racetrack, and there are some really cool corners down there that we don’t get a shot to run on a Cup weekend.”

Thoughts? Jimmie Johnson has also said he wants to run the Boot in NASCAR as well. I'm in favor of it actually.

You mean he stopped crying about the new Ford engine long enough to talk about something else?

The boot looks like a more fun part of the track than the short course. Lewis Hamilton seemed to have a lot of fun driving it during the seat swap he and Stewart did.

Not a huge fan of road courses. The Glen is MUCH better than Infineon though. Anything that gives the opportunity for more passes to increase the excitement of road course racing is good with me.

I wouldn't mind adding another road course race to the schedule. Have two of them before the chase and have one during the chase. Its a crime that NASCAR doesn't have a road course during the chase.

i'm not going to say he would have been a World Champion, but Stewart may have been one of the very few Americans who could have found some sort of success in F1. it's worked out well for him the way he went.

now that we know he can still fit himself into the tub of an open wheel car, he needs to get back to the 500.

I'm not a big fan of road courses either, but they are something different, which I'm all for. I agree that one should be in the Chase. I'm also for extending the Glen course. That is a short road course as is compared to the other road courses in the world.

NASCAR in it's infinite wisdom, shortened both The Glen and Sears Point due to their opinion that their fans would lose interest if the lap times were too long. Basically they were saying NASCAR fans have short attention spans.

I'm sure it's fun for those guys with their talent and everything, but I effin hate the boot.
