This from the new york times of all sources.

Chump Change in the Latest G.D.P. Report - Economix Blog - NYTimes.com

Real federal nondefense purchases increased by a mere $4 per American, while state and local government purchases increased by a mere $8 per person. Real defense purchases increased by $17 per person, which seems large when compared to the other government purchase categories, but is trivial by any other measure.

And let's not forget that the stimulus money hasn't gone to defense so the real effect AT THE MOST is $12 per person. Wow thanks for that. Good use of $1 trillion.

I was under impression from news reports that the great bulk of the stimulus had not yet been spent and would not be until end of this year, beginning of next.

while true, you might want to inform the president who has been stating around the clock that his stimulus package is the reason why the economy is recovering (which is quesitonable as well btw).

There are three kinds of economists: those who can count, and those who can't.

relavance?

None. My friend, who is in fact a nationally known economist on housing trends, posted it on his facebook page, causing me to laugh and post it on here because I thought you would find it funny.

I have been trying to find one of Biden's quotes from yesterday where he's talking about the economy being "less worse" which is better than "more worse", but it still isn't better, or something like that. It is a clasic Bidenism.

If anybody finds the quote or even finds audio/video of him saying this, it would be greatly appreciated.

The point about Obama being wrong with attributing the recovery to the stimulus is a valid point, but the basis of this thread..."stimilus package has had almost no effect on gdp" is kind of common sense and expected at this point.

Back in January and February, Obama and his coehorts acted as if the economy would collapse if the Stimulus were not passed immediately. So now we can take our time spending the money?

so it doesn't bother you our president regurally lies to the american people to suit his agenda?

and let's face it the average american doesn't know the stimulus money hasn't been spent. i can't tell you how many democrats i've met that are convinced obama and the stimulus package is why the stock market is up.

Of course it bothers me that a president lies to suit his agenda...but you're not seriously suggesting he is the first to do this or worst about it are you? Bush, Clinton, and Bush Sr. all did it to. The reason it is such a big deal around here is because he is the current president and he is a democrat.

Besides, my point still stands. This thread is titled "stimilus package has had no effect on gdp", of which I say "Of course it hasn't".

If you want to b!tch about democrats being stupid or Obama lying start a thread about that...or better yet...take your choice of any of the 1000 threads that already exist and contribute to them.

you state this as though it is obvious to the world that the stimulus has had no effect. if so how come no one calls obama on his ridiculous statements? just reading the comments on the article i posted shows you how in denile democrats are about obamamonics.

if Obama is claiming that the stimulus has stopped the recession from deepening into a depression, he will also have to credit the tARP bailouts, which he supported, but were done during the Bush administration.

Unfortunately, he'll never be able to give the Bush administration credit for anything.

found this from last month....

While addressing the Urban League in July 2009, Biden was discussing the GDP's second derivative and said:
Less good is not good, but less good is better than worse.
