They beat brazil tonight in the championship 81-56, was a 8 point game at the half though.

Jarnell finished the night with 11 points and 4 rebounds in 22 minutes.

His averages through the tournament...

If he gives us 21 and 8 this season I think we will be reallllly tough to beat

Not unreasonable to think either

He is getting there. Great experience that will help the team in the fall. Besides defense he has to work on FT's over the summer. Needs to get it up to 65-70% next season. Otherwise the other teams are going to foul him rather than let him make easy shots.

Yes, free throw shooting HAS to improve. If he can get up to 70-75% hell put himself in great position to be a 17-20 ppg player.

I sure hope so. It's been too long since I was excited about 2 UT sports.

I fully expect Stokes to be at 70% free throw shooting this season. His work ethic is ridiculous.

Shaq Goodwin was a beast in some games but disappeared in others....but that kid is the real deal just like Stokes but with more athleticism.

Jarnell had an impressive series, but I read that it was Julius Randle who lead the US team over Brazil in the gold medal game with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Yes randle had a good game, what about the first matchup against brazil?

Jarnell appeared to be the constant on the team, and even though I'm biased, he appeared to definitely be the best player.

According to the stats, it looks like Stokes and Randle lead the team in both scoring and rebounding overall. It'd be nice if Jarnell could help steer him toward Knoxville next season even though UT is not currently on Randle's list.

Not happening, stokes was asked about recruiting randle. His response was no I'm not, I'll leave that to the coaches, I'm here to win a gold medal.

In fairness to all the players on the team, Jarnell should have been hands down the best player, seeing as how he has something none of the others do, college experience, including multiple games against the NCAA champions.

True but most of these guys also got to play a senior year in high school something jarnell didn't. I agree he benefited from the 1/2 season, but at the same time he had a 6 month lay off and is just now getting into top shape.

the only thing holding him back last season was his conditioning. a whole off season of this, then Italy, and coach Martin's practices, he will be a machine. our future is bright gentlemen

I have no expecations for next year based on his performance there.... just very glad he is doing a great job representing himself and the University of Tennessee.

It'll be quite a battle downlow when Memphis and UT play this season.

Maymon v. Shaq Goodwin
Stokes v. Tarik Black

Can't Wait.

What are we going to do after next year when we lose Kenny, Jeronne, and if Stokes jumps to the league. Do we have any post players in the pipeline?

Excited @ 12/13, but wondering after that.
