Over Woolridge. Woolridge gave us nothing today in the time he played. Stokes deserves the starting spot IMO. 2 games in and he has done this well. If he starts now, he will only improve quicker IMO.

Honestly, I believe they should hold off on starting him for a few more games till he gets a better feel for the college game... Stokes looks pretty lost on defense! He'll get a lot better with time + practice... He is just a month removed from HS!

No offense...

But he could get in a little better shape. Offensively, he looks good. A little work on the D is needed.

But overall, fabulous.

He's no worse then Woolridge on D IMO. At least Stokes has HUGE upside. They just need to start him. It will only get him better prepared for next year plus it will make him improve at a faster pace throughout this year.

I think it's hilarious for someone to think Stokes can come in and play 30 to 35 minutes right off the bat. It's impossible to expect that from him right now.

Yeah he does seem lost on D some I have to admit. But in game experience will make him improve that quickly. I think he should start by the end of the year at least though.

Swiper always looks lost. We have 2 positions that basically give us nothing on offense. Sit the seniors and let the young guys develope. They are the future and they will develope and gradually get better with experience and playing time. Swiper and Tatum are not going to imporve and thus the team will not imporve until something changes.

Yeah, it's ridiculous alright.... 11 points and 8 rebounds in 26 minutes tonight. Gee, I wonder what he could do in 30 minutes, maybe 14 and 10?? He needs to be playing at least 30 minutes. He's the BEST player on the team by FAR. I don't care if he has only been on campus a couple of weeks or not, Woolridge and Hall can't even hold his jock strap.

he looked good on offense but his help defense possibly cost us that game. but of course we wouldn't have needed his help defense if skylar didn't get his ankles broken 10 times a game

The reality is Stokes played 26 minutes and Swiper played 9. Doesn't matter who starts, it's who finishes. Saying Stokes should start doesn't really change much.

This season is pretty much wasted anyway. Might as well get the best five out there and let them learn and gel. Hopefully in time for the SEC tourney.

Quick story time to have people understand how long it takes to get in shape.

I was sick for the first semester of my junior year. I basically could do no physical therapy. Got healthy for a short time and came back to play. We play 8 minute quarters in high school. I hadn't played an organized game since July (about the same time in Jarnell) and played in mid-January after about a week of working out. It took me about five weeks before I could even get in 25. Now, Jarnell got to work out multiple times a day, but still, it's nowhere near the same as gameday. It takes a while to get your legs back under you where you can be effective for all the time you are in.

Jarnell didn't take several weeks off and do nothing.

Game shape is just different than practice shape. He also has to control his breathing, etc on this level. The games are more hyped, and if you get too hyped, you get tired quicker and your breathing is affected.

not that anyone questions jarnell's work ethic but is says something about the kid that CCM said he initially was picturing a date of UCONN as being his first game action. It ends up that UCONN is when he gets into the starting lineup, i feel like he has really surprised the coacing staff with how quickly he was ready to play.

I got to the YMCA in Olive Branch MS, and Jarnell used to come all the time and workout and run some. Trust me, he wasn't doing just nothing this whole time.

I'm guessing he'd get about 16 and 12 if he played that much. That's just a wild guess though!
