Stokes obviously misses a high iq player like maymon to help him in the paint. He also doesn't have a single player that can break down his man off the dribble and draw a big man so stokes can finish. Throwing it to him and expecting him to face up and go akeem olajuwon on taller players isn't a good idea. He has the running hook and not a consistent j, so you take away his right. Of course he needs to step up, but these are parts of the game that help make big men look average or great. Not including the fact that when he does run down the floor quickly and pin his man, we are ******* walking it up and not even trying to put pressure on the D.

Now, imo, he may be a little gunshy because he is concerned about knocking down his fts. There are always guys on a team that would rather not have to go to the line. It's mental of course, but it happens. I wonder if that's why he hasn't been looking for contact.

I am by no means going to say that we can blame how horrible this season has gone on not having maymon alone. There are still 5 guys out there that have worked with cuonzo for two years now. However, it's obvious that without maymon, stokes offensive productivity is almost nonexistent. Teams know all they have too do is double stokes cause there is no one on our team that will make them pay. Someone on this team HAS to step up aka golden, McRae.

This team lacks that 6-5 to 6-7 forward or guard that can create his own shot. We have jump shooters, defensive guards and post players. This type player is a year away - Hubbs.

Why can't mcrae penetrate? He should be a righty version of JP.

His handle is horrible.

I know. And it shouldn't be. Trae and Mcrae haven't improved one bit in the ballhandling category in going on 3 years and thats on them for not working on it enough. If they put in the right work at it, it's really not possible to not improve.

I agree with most of the OP but some of you guys really need to relax. Yes. We should have beaten Virginia but the other two loses we're very much understandable and justified before the season even started. Georgetown and Virginia both run similar style offenses and we've done fairly well on that end. We've seen back to back teams with incredible height and that doesn't help when our shooters are struggling. I don't blame the players nearly as much as I do Martin and staff right now. It's his responsibility to game plan and scheme the strengths of this team and it doesn't look like any adjustments have been made. I love Coach Martin and think he has the passion and ability to be one of the best but he has to make some changes. I wouldn't expect much of a change on the road but I'd be shocked if something didn't change in our next game. Maybe change the minutes up or a change in the lineup. Either way, this will get fixed.

Who are the jump shooters?

McCrae, McBee, Golden and right now they aren't knocking down shots. This team lacks that penetrating guard/forward that can create his own shot, draw the fouls and/or dish the assist. Watch Archie Goodwin for Kentucky sometime.
