Mr. Stokes will be wearing Orange or in Europe next year! He is not NBA ready and might not ever be if he continues to play like this. He started last year this way. He played like a Middle School Girl tonight and last time i checked they dont play in the NBA!!! How someone his size gets man handled on both ends of the court is mind blowing to me! Would love to hear other perpectives!!!! Im sick of it!

Well it's the first game of the year.. It's really embarrassing as a Vol fan the way u guys act after a football/basketball loss. Let's talk about ways we can improve instead of why guys won't make it in the nba after the first game of the season.

How about playing in another country for a team that wears orange?

Im sick of the same CRAP! Stokes is better than that! I know its the first game but you can write it down this will not the last game that Mr Stokes plays this way! I truly believe IF he can step his game up then we will be dancing and be hard to beat, but i wouldnt hold my breathe anytime soon. Dont have any confidence in him

The new rules are going to kill Stokes. Especially when he wants to play physical like always does. I hate to be the analytical guy as I always am but his style of play doesn't translate to the way CB has to be played now.

Playing 4 minutes and picking up 2 quick/bogus fouls in the first hurt him and then he played timid and not the way Stokes knows how to play from there on out.

You guys can dog him all you want but the reasons for Stokes play tonight was more than just "he's soft, sucks, and has no heart." Good god Volnation what in the hell. Jarnell is a hell of a player but HAS TO ADJUST or he will foul out in most ballgames.

I said this last year and people flamed me. I've never been impressed with Stokes since seeing him not develop hardly any from his 1 to 2 year here. Is that his fault or Conzo's staffs fault? Probably both. All I can say about Stokes is this, he'll make it to the league because he can rebound very well, but he'll soon be shown the door by any NBA team when they see he has zero back to the basket moves outside a spin move and has the athleticism of an elephant. Like I've said before, I believe Stokes is a Reggie Evans clone with better touch if he can learn to move his feet and not foul. Right now, Stokes has very little basketball IQ, and he doesn't understand how to move his feet properly on offense or defense to get into proper position. Stokes has great potential and could dominate the paint in college basketball, but he first has to understand positioning and basketball touch.

True, the new rules are going to ruin college basketball and players like Jarnell. I can't stand watching a game that is dictated by the refs and turns into a FT contest. I have a feeling we will see a lot of these this season. Kills the flow of the games as well. NCAA sucks!

These rules and refs are killing our game.. It's turning into sissy ball like the nfl.. Getting so freaking ridiculous.

i dont agree with that....

This new rule could and should benefit Stokes more then hurt him.

He should draw a foul every time he touches it but instead he gets 2 offensive fouls! Stupid Basketball!!!!

Sorry Volnation for the negativity but he is what he is and hes not very good right now and look for it to continue! He will get alot more offensive fouls because he is not a smart player

I hope im wrong and will be the first to come on here and eat crow! Lets get a win on Saturday and hope Stokes gets 20 points and 20 rebounds

A couple fouls on Maymon tonight made me want to throw my tv out the window.. He was playing basketball, which is apparently not allowed in Ohio.

everybody keeps saying its the first game. did the not practice and have they not been playing this game for years and still cant shoot

just seems like stokes is not nearly aggressive enough. he needs to take control of the paint, he's got a pretty shot on short jumpers. he just needs to get more aggressive, he's bigger than most post players we will play. i thought the gameplan should have been to feed maymon and stokes all night long.

Am I the only one that noticed that we couldn't play any defense whatsoever? I mean it seems like the whistle only worked one way last night. Yes our free throw shooting was horrendous but it was hard enough for us to win the way we were shooting the ball and no rebounding ever on top of maymom not being maymon. I'm a firm believer that if we don't at least make the sweet 16 or better then its time to be hunting a new coach!

He hasn't regressed. He just played a terrible game. New rules definitely work against him ( which in my opinion is making BB unbearable to watch).

And after the very first game you post this? Stokes didn't play well because he was in foul trouble early on, had to sit almost the entire 1st half and never got his rhythm for the game. Why the panic after the FIRST GAME? If by the end of December there win/loss record is abysmal then I will join you in your panic attack, but for now give CCM a chance to evaluate his team. There is talent there that needs to be mesh together. Sometimes a coach needs a loss like this to mend it right. Stokes will be fine, I'm more concern with the ticky tack foul call the refs are making and if they are going to be consistent. NCAA wants to have more hand check calls, but doesn't think maybe they should increase the number of fouls a guy gets before fouling out. Folks 5 fouls needs to be moved to 6 maybe 7. That's a discussion and argument that needs to be made. Star player get's 2 early fouls in a game, guess what, I'm flipping to another game and checking back in later. Either let them play or increase the foul count.

I do not want to bash one of our Vols. I will say that Stokes could use a little touching up around the edges (jumper and post moves). He won't be able to power those NBA big men like he does in college.
