Stop playing Bama

The OP after realizing what he just started

NO. NO. NO. :banghead2:Just because we are losing against them, doesn't mean we shouldn't play them. How dare you, this is tradition, this is history.

Yeah? You want to repeat the Revolutionary War and the Wary of 1812 every few years? History and tradition doesn't mean it should be repeated for infinity.

;)

I see both sides of this argument and respect both. I actually believe in the not too distant future this issue will resolve itself with conference scheduling potentially killing the idea of traditional cross division rivalries. It doesn't mean we won't ever play Bama, just that we won't play them as often. They won't always be up either, but from the start of this conference they have been the best team, with us right behind.

Don't read this as me wanting to get rid of Bama as our rival, I don't. I am just not scared of change or the future. Either way, we are still TN and they still suck.

That's one of the dumbest comparisons I've seen on here in a long time.

It was a joke to one of our British fans (hence the ;) below).

But, thanks for noticing and bringing such insight to the table. You, Sir, provide invaluable commentary. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.

Ah missed your winky.

That sounded bad.

Could you imagine how this place would react if UK, Vandy, UGA, or Bama fans started a thread tiitled "Stop playing UT" during their losing streaks against us?

This place would go nuts with laughter.

OP, grow a pair!

Once Butch gets this train full speed we'll be playing them 2x every year. Once reg season and once in the SEC champ game.

As a long time Bama fan, I hope the annual Tennessee/Alabama game continues. I always enjoy the semi-annual trip up to Knoxville. I can't imagine any true Tide or Vol fan wanting this series to end. It has always been a series of streaks and it is always a thrill to see the Tide end one of those streaks after we have lost for several years. I'm sure Tennessee fans feel the same when the Vols end a Bama winning streak. I always looked forward to the 3rd Saturday in October and wish the conference had left that as a standing date for the Tennessee/Bama game.

This was their 7th straight win? If i'm not mistaken, we beat them 10 out of the previous 12 games. Why would we stop playing them?

In the damn near 100 hundred games we've played against each other, They have beaten us a total of 11 (maybe 12) more than we have beaten them. Why would we stop playing them?

We have some real wussies up in here!

Are you serious? If so, full-retard anybody?

I have read some ignorant things on the internet, but stop playing Bama takes the cake. Stop playing a 112 year old tradition because they are winning? If we are going to get beat I would rather it be to a potential National Champion.

I wonder if that is how Bama fans felt when the roles were reversed. Most recently from '95 to 2001.

I knew bama fans were forgetting the 90s, I guess UT fans are starting to as well. It will come around again. Bama has definitely proven that top tier coaches produces top tier football teams throughout history.

I would love to see a poll regarding our rivalry. How many births, weddings etc have been scheduled around this rivalry.

The last 7 years in this rivalry the score differential has been 35.5 to 10.7 It's not just the fact that Bama is winning, as in the fulmer "error," it's the dominance exercised.

And between 1995 and 2001 the average score was 30-15 in Tennessee's favor while you were buying players such as Albert Means, Kindal Moorehead and Eric Locke....There are better days ahead for Tennessee if our current hot recruiting streak can be sustained, so I expect Butch will have a subpoena dropped in his lap by a bitter Tide fan with no life within the next 3-5 years...:peace2:

Funny you should ask that. Just last Saturday a young girl in front of me at the concession stand at the game was talking to her friend. She said that she had originally planned her wedding date for October 26 but then she realized her Dad probably wouldn't miss the game to walk her down the aisle. LOL

That won't happen. We will pretty much always be at a disadvantage playing Bama, but it won't change anytime soon because it is a rivalry.

They said this same thing when we were beating them every year...

Best rivalry in college football and I will be mad as he'll if it is ever canceled or moved to a rotating basis...

Since we won a total of two SEC games the past two seasons, I guess you will be saying we should drop out of the conference too. Maybe just join the FCS....

Alabama has only lost 2 games in the last 3 years.
Tennessee is the only team in the nation that is expected to beat Bama 2 times every year.

Hey OP...do us all a favor and set yourself on fire !!!
No way the greatest rivalry in college football is ever cancelled.
I would wager that even in our down year this year, tv ratings were still better than most games on.
