Well since its a hot topic in the news. Lets hear VN's opinion on the matter.

Are you for or against?

Why?

I'm glad we don't do it (even if it's forced) but it's nice sometimes.

I'm for it if only because it pisses off Coach Ratface.

Kentucky will never, ever, ever rush the court, but if you haven't been there before, I can understand why some could do it.

For me, the main concern is getting the players off the court asap.

A few years back, Demarcus Cousins decked a kid who was taunting him during a court storming.

So yeah, IMO, player safety is the #1 priority.

It's fun to see but I don't know how the players think. After a loss a player could snap...

It is just time wasted that could easily be spent at a bar with a beer in hand.

I know of only one time that KU fans "stormed the court" and that was when they beat Memphis for the NCAA Championship; some students who apparently had nowhere else to watch the game, aside from watching it without beer and on the big screen at The Phog, then rushed the court when the game ended.

Also, when KU beat Texas in 2003, a small group of fans rushed the court and they were booed and ridiculed with chants of "stupid freshmen" by the rest of the crowd.

I can understand and accept spontaneous situations like rushing the court/field on a buzzer beater or a missed Collins Cooper FG in overtime (dammit).

No less dangerous, but those situations are pure.

UF doesn't allow fans on the field under any circumstances. We've got state troopers with German shepherds guarding the sidelines at football games. If a student successfully rushes the field, chances are they have some battle scars and bite marks to show for their effort.

At the O'Dome our students are pinned in with no direct access to the court.

As pure as a contrived act can be.

Part of the beauty. Its not legit if theres no chance of being took down by a massive K9.

Thats why you have to go in mass. "I don't have to out run the bear, I just gotta out run you."

Disagree. Sometimes a big regular season win warrants it, even though I'm not in favor of it (see UT vs UF in '98, or last year's UK-Indiana basketball game).

Besides, when was the last time a team's fans rushed the field/court following the BCS title game or Final Four?

I was about as close to the GA Dome floor as you could get in 2007, but even if I wanted to rush the court, there were three waves of security guarding the floor. Not worth it.

knocking off # 1 in BB is ok IMO - In FB not really unless the field is astroturf -- how bad was the grass torn up when UT beat UF in 98 ? Anyone know or remember ?

And you would be surprised how fast you can run under those conditions. I believe I could fool a couple of those electronic timing devices myself.

I personally hate it. It would seem to me that when you rush the court, you confirm the other team owns you. If you want to rush the court, thats fine, but from that point on you have designated yourself as little brother and that the other team is your superior. Kind of like when Maryland rushed the court after the Duke win. Does UMD not have any pride left in that program? Totally embarassing.

Considering that they also did it when they beat an NC State team that was ranked in the teens at the time, I'll have to go with "No."
