Tomorrow, finally, my new Fox Business show begins!

It was as if Rand had seen the future. Writing half a century ago, she predicted today's explosion of big government in shockingly accurate detail.

The "Preservation of Livelihood Law." The "Equalization of Opportunity Law." The "Steel Unification Plan."

Don't these sound like laws passed by the current Congress?

All were creations of Rand's villain, Wesley Mouch, the evil bureaucrat who regulates business and eventually drives the productive people out of business.
-----------------------------------

"Atlas" is still a big bestseller today. This year, it reached as high as NO. 15 on Amazon's bestseller list. Pretty amazing.

Clearly there's some magic in "Atlas Shrugged." The Library of Congress once asked readers which books made the biggest difference in their lives. "Atlas" came in second, after the Bible.
--------------------------------------

In every newsroom where I've worked, and at my college, Princeton, capitalism was derided as selfishness.
------------------------------------

The embrace of freer markets has lifted more people out of the misery of poverty than any other system -- ever.
-----------------------------------------

What makes a country work is leaving people free -- free to take risks, to invent things -- and to keep the rewards of their work.

his weekly visit to O'Reilly's show is entertaining. I can't watch, but I listen on Sirius. I can hear the undertones in Stossel's voice that he thinks O'Reilly is an idiot.

Just the link. Not both please.

Both what??

I posted four things; ie,

1. Suggested thread topic.

2. Link to the source.

3. Interesting excerpts.

4. A picture for the attention span challenged.

"The U.S. Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government." --author and philosopher Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

"In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution." --Thomas Jefferson

I would have to agree with Stossel on that point.

O'reilly is obviously a member of the dufi of the political pundits association.

Personally I just can't stomach some of the opinions of most hosts of political radio talk shows, even though I may agree with much of what they may say, generally they have some weak point on which they have compromised themselves on some socialist talking point or they seem to try to lead off into some unproductive dead end trail as far as what to do about situations or circumstances. Then they tend to go into emotional rants and if one would attempt to change the direction of any political discussion, a cool headed approach is neccessary. Of course many a tryant has gained political power by exciting the emotions of the masses.

What do you think of Hieromonk Damascene?

Not until now has the ancient wisdom of Lao Tzu been presented alongside the otherworldly revelation of Jesus Christ in a way that encompasses the full significance of both.

I've had great success when debating hard core Islamists face to face by diverting their attention to the teachings of Lao Tse.

"A mocker resents correction; he will not consult the wise." (Proverbs 15:12)

In relating psychology to math it has been said that a neurotic says' "2 + 2 = 4, but how oh how I wish 2 + 2 = 5."

On the other hand a psychopath says; "2 + 2 = 5 and I will kill you if you say any different."

From a mathematical point of view, may Christians could be called neurotic and most muslims could be called psychopatic.

Funny story about (your comment) "the saint of Lost Causes."

A pretty good song writer found out I knew another really great song writer and wanted an introduction, so I took him over to the guy's home and introduced them, left them together for a while and then picked him up later and they did what all good songwriters do, wrote a great song, the title??

"South of all borders is the town of Lost Causes."

(Only they made the word play, with a bit of a Latin beat, that the town was Los Causes, as in Los Angeles or etc.)
