See it was the other way around with me. I thought it looked lame from the previews but loved it when i watched it. Justin Longs stoner performance cracks me up.

Thing was, I was always a huge Steve Zahn fan growing up. Saving Silverman, Happy Texas, Freak Talks About Sex were some of my favorite movies.So I was pumped about him being in a movie. I dunno, it had potential but just came off as dumb and unfunny. IMHO

Not to sound smug but I have this feeling if I watched Saving Silverman now I wouldn't think it was as funny as I thought it was 11 years ago.

I pissed off the woman tonight because I didn't want to watch her Netflix movie Grown Ups. Sure enough I didn't laugh once. Sandler has been on a cold streak for a while with me.

I saw Strange Wilderness with about 8 friends. Me and my buddy were hammered going in to it and we walked out of the theater still cracking up. The other 6 SOBER people I was with were not amused... at all. They thought we were insane for liking it. I haven't seen it since but all I remember was laughing uncontrollably the whole time. This may tell you all you need to know about it. My advice: get drunk with some buddies and watch it, with no ladies.

Agree; Big Daddy was the beginning of the slide. Since then he's played pretty much the same character in every movie: the good-hearted but sort of dopey man-child who always learns something by the end of the movie. To be fair, that describes Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, but he had fun with those performances and they were over the top. From Big Daddy on, he's going through the motions.

The 2 exceptions are Punch Drunk Love and Reign Over Me, 2 movies he actually acted in and I thought did a really good job. In fact I figured he would move to more serious roles but it really hasn't happened, he's gone back to the by-the-numbers roles.
