Strength of Schedule

How does everyone think this schedule compares to the toughest of all time? I think it has to be one of the toughest ever. We have already had to play on the road at 3 Top 5 teams. Two of these were on back to back weeks at two of the toughest stadiums in the country. We have also played a Top 5 team at home. We still have to play at ND who was a 61 yd. pass away from being a Top 5 team. If there has ever been a tougher schedule then I would love to see it.

I am trying to remember where this stat was found, but it had the Vols as in the top 3 for schedule. I for one can't think of anyone who has a harder schedule. Maybe Michigan has a tough schedule too, but not sure.


Who you are playing is not as rough as where you are playing them. Move these games and you could very well be undefeated.

I would imagine that USC and/or Michigan would be above them in the SoS category....But I wouldn't wish the Vols' schedule on my worst enemy....

USC is not above in SOS. No way! They play in the freakin' Pac-10. UTK has played 4 teams that were in the Top 10 when we played them, and we still have Notre Dame. Come on...

Tennessee's opponents are 25-8 (75.8%)
Michigan's are 35-15 (70%)
Southern Cal's are 19-21 (47.5%)


Tennessee has played 4 ranked teams out of 6 games (66.7% of games), all 4 of which were in the top 5 at the time of the game, 3 of which are currently in the top 10. 3 road games were against ranked opponents. UT has 1 win over a top 10 team.

Michigan has played 4 ranked teams out of 8 games (50% of games), of which one is in the top 10. UM has played only 1 ranked team on the road. UM has 0 wins over a top 10 team. They do have 1 win over a top 25 team.

Southern Cal has played 2 ranked opponents out of 7 games (28.6% of games), of which one is in the top 10. Both games were on the road. USC has 1 win over a top 10 team.

The reason that USC dropped to # 2 in the BCS this week is due their their relatively weaker schedule.

One site has us at 3 and Southern Cal at 80 something.

Based upon the SOS formula previously used by the BCS, Tennessee's SOS is # 2. Oklahoma is # 1. USC is # 47.
