That is the biggest problem. I understand using your depth (which we have a ridiculous amount of) but you have to use it when you need it, not just because you have it.

There is no reason to be substituting within the first 4-5 minutes of the game unless a) a player is in quick foul trouble b) someone is hurt. That is all. I know Bruce has gotten away with this prior to the last 2 games, but as a former basketball player I understand the importance of getting into an offensive flow. I don't think our players really get that chance.

I would also like to see Pearl and McBee's minutes cut to mop-up only. Maymon is clearly better than Pearl.

Our rotation should be:

1 Goins, Golden
2 Hopson, Tatum
3 Harris, Tatum, Maymon
4 Maymon, Harris, Hall
5 Williams, Fields, Hall

That is all that should get serious PT. Woolridge, McBee, Pearl, et al would be mop uppers or reserve.

Bone coming back will help at the 1, 2, and 3 with 1 more man added to the rotation.

Our starters can handle 32 minutes a game, unless in foul trouble.

How do we feel about Harris and Maymon playing the 3? I don't recall ever seeing them in together today--they were just rotating at 4. And that's bad, because they were our best two players in the first half. If either or both can get minutes at 3, please do this, cutting out Skylar and/or Pearl.

This sounds alot like the "play Goins and Maze together" stuff from last year, we tried it for about 5 minutes and never did it again. I expect the same thing to happen this year.

Nothing like that. Tobias Harris will play the 3 in the NBA. Maze was a 2 guard originally, but sometimes players can't re-adjust back to an old position very quickly.

Tobias has ball handling skills, a solid jumper and a good dribble drive. His only issue would be guarding the 3. I think he could do it though. He's quick and very agile for 6'8. I mean he's only an inch taller than Hopson if you think about it. Tobias will end up at the 3 eventually, maybe not until his pro career but I think it would work out very well for us right now.

Maymon reminds me somewhat of Chism. He's built like a stump and gets better leverage at the 4. He's much better guarding the 4 size-wise. Offensively he's a little short at the 4 but he's got alot of quickness.

I would have both playing a combo of the 3/4 but mostly Harris at 3.

Your lineup is 10X better than CBP too bad he is too stupid to know he's own talent (best players) or maybe he does and just chooses to play his lame duck son anyways. I hope we lose every game his lame @$$ plays in

Another thing...

Charlotte student section is better than UT's. Entire crowd was better in general really. I understand it was a huge game for them but still. Kind of pathetic on all accounts.

I think the root of our offensive droughts is that the 2nd group of five guys are almost exclusively a group of defensive specialists. We thus use too many lineups with too few scoring options.

The 2nd string right now is Golden, McBee, Pearl, Maymon, and Fields. Pearl and Fields are defensive specialists. They don't score unless they get the ball next to the basket. This makes three straight games that McBee has had more fouls than points. This is from a "shooting specialist." I haven't seen enough from Maymon. He definitely looked rusty on offense tonight. And, I think we all agree that Golden has potential. It's the very beginning of his career.

The drop off from the starter to the sub is huge at each position. People keep saying that Tennessee goes 10 deep. Really? The PG rotation can't be changed right now, as we only have two of them. But, after that, the best player on the team, Hopson, is getting replaced by McBee. Tatum, another solid scoring option, is replaced by a defensive specialist. It's too early to evaluate Maymon, but his game doesn't strike me as a guy who will be looking to create shots. We'll see. It's one game. And, Williams is replaced by another defensive specialist.

McRae and Hall need to beat some of these guys for some of the extra minutes. It's great to have guys who are solid defenders to sub in, but the coaching staff needs to adjust the rotation to keep more offense on the floor at a time.

When most 10 man rotations are used, it is generally "wear" the other team down. Problem is, you can't lose leads and struggle for points while doing so. If Bruce is going to make a committment to stick with the halfcourt D, then a 7-8 man rotation is ideal. Looks like you guys are searching for too much.

when josh bone gets cleared to play, which should be anytime. he takes mcbees minutes no doubt. i like to see maymon and harris in the same time. i was really impressed with the hustle and rebounding of jerone. he was in better shape than i thought also. he can be a beast down low.

I said something similar last night.

The rotation seems whacked.
