Guess who said this:

"It's a construction plan of epic proportions. They're calling it.... a freeway! Eight lanes of shimmering cement from here to Pasadena. I see a place where people get on and off the freeway, on and off, on and off, all day and all night.... I see a street of gas stations, inexpensive motels, restaurants that serve rapidly prepared food, tire salons, automobile dealerships, and billboards - wonderful, wonderful billboards! - as far as the eye can see. My god, it will be beautiful....."

Taking over toon town......can't believe o remember this
Posted via VolNation Mobile

Well, it was based on a real world event that BPV said didn't happen. Moreover, I find it delicious irony.

It wasn't about taking over Toon Town; he was getting rid of something.....

So if we don't protect public transit and live in walkable communities, the world will be turned into a giant cartoon with Judge Doom as our fearless leader? Eh that's good enough for me. I'm sold.

It's a life immitating art moment, isn't it?

Dings to lumberjack and Cspin!

Judge Doom was going to sell off the railcars to make way for the freeway and his "utopian" vision. The railway sell-off actually happened (despite BPV's objections):

Something else I learned from cartoons. ACME makes just about any product you need but they are generally defective if used by coyotes. I'm sure there's a lesson about the right way to live in there somewhere.

Yeah. What is it about road runners that give them the ability to run through fake tunnels? And what is it about rabbits that allow a finger to go into a barrel and when fired does not hurt them?

This is a surprisingly liberal take on toons. I thought you'd be blaming the coyote for not being able to effectively use and understand the limitations of ACME products. I mean after all coyotes kill roadrunners, not ACME products, right?

Cartoons speak truth - they have changed my way of thinking. The coyote only did what he did because he has been repressed by institutional racism. He is not to blame for his aggressive actions. His aggressive actions are the result of the "haves" plundering his and his people's assets. To make matters worse, corporatists driven by greed exploit his anger and sell known defective products that cause physical harm and mental pain for the coyote - further fueling the rage and behaviors that the coyote is forced to experience. The cycle is repeated - seemingly once a week on Saturday mornings - while the establishment views as entertainment.

I wish it were only that bad VBH, with the advent of many cartoon networks he is asked to repeat these horrible scenes over and over many times a day. What was once just a weekly incident is now repeated several times per day, his anguish has been further enhanced and exploited by evil profiteers.

I think it goes back to one of the original Mickey Mouse toons - "Steamboat Willie".

Since that time, cartoons and commentary on transportation's impact on the social fabric of our country and the destructive power of leaving our walkable cities have been tightly linked.

I feel compelled to start an advocacy group. Gonna call it Toons Influencing Transportation Services. The acronym will be catchy.
