While I know they were friends, or at least good acquaintances for most of her coaching career, there was some friction between the two. It qasnt on the same level as Geno, but it happened. I believe it was in the mid to late 90s, when UGA was very good. WI don't want to dig up dirt, but what caused the fued?

I never felt like there was necessarily a feud. Definitely some competition and then some frustration on the part of Andy. But as others have pointed out, losing to the same person that much is frustrating.

Aside from on court losses I’m sure he lost tons of recruiting battles with Pat of the years too. That all has a cumulative effect.

Andy is a good ol’ boy and I’m sure that rubbed people wrong then, just as it does now sometimes.

Similar situation with Muffet and Geno playing in the Big East for so long. Familiarity breeds contempt. Unfortunately their situation has definitely evolved into a feud, but everyone who ends up cross with Geno ends up in a feud.

If Georgia had stayed competitive longer and started to beat Tennessee more regularly I’m sure that would have ramped things up between Pat and Andy.

Pat Summitt and Andy Landers didn't always speak, but they were always friends

Here is an article in Andy’s own words.

Did Pat recruit those Meigs girls that went to Georgia? Crazy how a rural school had three SEC players on the same

The home game against Georgia in 98 is the only time I recall Pat actively trying to humiliate another coach and team. I always wondered what created her desire to do that.

I remember that, and so I also remember thinking at the time that Pat was likely using the game to teach her players the importance of keeping the pedal to the metal against a quality opponent, not just as a way to assure victory, but as away to respect an opponent as one that has the talent to make an incredible comeback if given an opening.

I feel like Pat was showing Landers and his stellar team the utmost respect in NOT backing off.

I disagree. She had them down by a huge score early and left the superstars in the game needlessly in an attempt to win by more. It was an intentional beat down and humiliation. It stands out because I never saw Pat do that at any other point.

Powell was better, and so was the other player. Also, that Meigs coach looked like an actor. I cant think of his name or movie he was in though.

Yea she was a 3 year starter at ga, and Pat Summit told green that you can't eat all the pizza and drink all the beer in Knoxville and still play for her...
