Like I've said before I do not profess to know much about football. I do appreciate some very good insights on this board. Basically I began following Tennessee football in the early 90's because of Smokey the bluetick hound. Here are some of my disjointed thoughts about this year.
a. I had no idea we would be so successful in Heupel's 2nd year.
b. I believe were playing on a whole different level than other teams. We seem to be playing chess while the other teams are playing checkers.
c. The only comparables to this year I can think of is the 1966 Texas Western team and the 1980 "Miracle on Ice"
d. Georgia(like Alabama) deserves repect. They are reigning national champs and are loaded with 5 star players like Bowers.
e. I believe there are only 3 scenarios this Saturday. We win close- Georgia wins close or we win handsomely.
f. I love this team because they have built their team the old fashion way. Hard work, dedication, and refusing to let their success go to their heads.
h. This team and coaching staff have been a gift to the Tennessee Valley. After years of covid and gov't lockdowns and discouragements they have given all of us hope.
i. I'm not a prophet of any kind but I do believe TN can go into Sanford stadium and deliver a victory this weekend. I was especially impressed with Hendon's interview on the Vol network after the game. He was calm, businesslike and very focused on what he must do this Saturday. As fans we should all be proud of our Vols and the orange sky lighting up the dawn.
