Korea ferry accident: Bodies found trapped inside sunken ferry - chicagotribune.com

"MOKPO/JINDO, South Korea — Angry relatives of more than 200 people, mostly children, missing inside a sunken South Korea ferry demanded authorities act now to raise the vessel and hit out at officials, including the country's president, as hopes of finding survivors faded."

Vice principal commits suicide after surviving South Korean ferry disaster | The National

"Police said Kang Min-kyu, 52, was found hanging from a pine tree on Jindo, an island near the sunken ship where survivors have been housed. He was the leader of a group of 325 students travelling on the ship on a school excursion and said in a suicide note that he felt guilty for being alive while more than 200 of his students were missing."

That's crazy.

So if you're ever on a ship and it hits something and starts to list, DON'T stay in your room go to the deck!

I wondered that too. Very sad. Unfortunately, I think the Asian influence of obedience to authority, especially for school kids, played a role in staying put.

Yes, that was mentioned but the captain should have been telling them to get on deck.

If someone told me I should put on a life jacket, I wouldn't hear the next thing they said. I would be gone scratchin and clawin like hell toward topside.
