Yes, Tennessee does have a hockey team! Since 1966 - The Tennessee ICE VOLS are one of the oldest NCAA hockey teams in the South. It started out as a “club sport”; Competing in Division 2 for several years; and officially moved up to Division 1 in 2024-2025. The Tennessee Lady ICE VOLS started this year, as well: 2024-2025.

I have a small collection of ICE VOLS jerseys & they seem to always bring up a conversation: “I didn’t even know that Tennessee had a hockey team”……

Enjoy jersey photos ——IMG_2658.pngIMG_2659.jpegIMG_2663.jpegIMG_2661.jpegIMG_2662.jpeg

I’ve got a cap and I say it every time… best logo on campus.

Here is the Tennessee hockey website. Looks like they have various merchandise. Currently, appears all the versions of hockey jerseys are sold out, but it says Jersey Sales are coming soon.

Used to go see them on the weekends at Midnight at the Ice Chalet if I remember correctly.

You could take coolers of beer in, was awesome.

I remember asking you a long time ago where you got your hat and you said the website sells them only every so often. I clicked and ordered a hat as soon as I saw the link in this thread. They've changed the logo a little bit but it is still great.

Another awesome logo/hat is the baseball Smokey tossing a baseball, but I've heard those hats are custom for the baseball team only and aren't for sale. The only people I've seen wearing them are baseball players/coaches in press conferences and such.

My fraternity brother’s son plays for them. Saw them play last year over the Florida game weekend

I am there bro. I went to the new arena for the first time last Saturday for AEW. Nice arena. You'll enjoy it.

Excellent! A few coworkers have been to Lobsters games and have spoken highly of the arena; I'm looking forward to it.

My office took a tour of the arena while it was still under construction last year, and it seemed like it was shaping up to be a solid facility.

Not a bad seat in there man. Parking deck is literally less than 100 steps to the front doors.

Tied 1-1 at the end of the 1st. In true Athens fashion, there's some serious home cooking with the Cult of the Blind Zebra.

2-2 at the end of the 2nd. The dogs scored on a beautiful pass across the crease, but the good guys answered a few moments later.

Seems like both teams are whiffing on an abnormal number of shots.

I'd love to think this will last, but my memories of having the wrestling team sacrificed to title IX still resonates with me. Yet another sport I cared about falls victim to "gender equity".

I think there's both a men's team and a women's team, with both being club sports and not under the umbrella of the UTAD(?). Regardless, hopefully hockey is here to stay on Rocky Top!

Founded in 1966, the University of Tennessee Ice Vols Hockey program is the oldest and most established hockey program in the southeastern United States.
