Surprising Teams

I'd say we are a huge surprise for the good and Miami and Florida State are tied for the bad.

As usual, Iowa is a part of the negative surprise list. Of course, except to those of us who have been hammering them for three years now.

The two most pleasant surprises are Idaho and San Jose State. Dennis Erickson is again proving that he is a great college football coach.

They aren't a surprisingly bad team. They were just overrated.

That's the way I feel about Georgia. They have been a disappointment, but anybody that follows them knew there was a good chance that their QB play was going to be a problem.

I almost had the chance to see the Vandals play at Oregon State... Had a viral infection, though, and couldn't make it.

But, I agree, couple of WAC teams come out suprising.

As far as the national stage, I don't know how much of a suprise we are... We were picked high by a lot of people. I'd say the biggest suprise is GaTech coming out and turning into probably the best team in the ACC, and the most disappointing is Miami.

Not really. Alot of people ranked Arky pretty highly at the start of the year and other than Auburn, they really haven't wowed much. They struggled with Vandy and barely beat Bama.

USC for the bad (really a good), they've struggled 3 weeks in a row and could have easily blown any of those games.

Iowa is their annually overrated team again. Solidified by the loss to Indiana.

Rutgers is the suprise of the decade so far. They haven't been ranked for however many years it has been, I read it the other day.

I consided UT a suprise for myself...

Florida is also a suprise to me, I didn't expect them to be as good as they are.

And the Bears are doing good unfortunately.

USC - I've had a feeling for years now that Pete Carroll purposely plays Pac-10 foes close most weeks so his players get used to pressure situations.

Iowa's loss to Indiana confirms Iowa sucks.

Rutgers isn't a suprise. They're about the same as last year (meh), and just happened to have this beastly schedule: North Carolina (1-5), Illinois (2-5), Ohio (4-3), Howard (1-5 D-IAA), South Florida (an easy 5-2) and Navy (5-2). Although Navy lost their QB in a triple option offense, which is basically a death sentence. Rutgers has one of the more hollow undefeated records I've ever seen, look for Pitt to beat them by 3 TD's.

Our guys are moderately suprising... Not that big of a deal.

Same with Florida and Cal.

UGA wasnt a surprise everyone knew after shockley and greene they would have a rebuilding year.
Tennessee not a big surprise. We all knew the team last year wasn't a 5-6 team. With cut last year we play for the NC. THe defense was unbelievable last year.

FSU, Miami, well the hole ACC is a huge Dissappointment (except GT and Clemson)
Notre Dame, but they are always overrated.

Cal has been a surprise. I figured they would roll over after that beat down We gave them.
Arkansas a surprise so far. I dont see it lasting

Good:

I know they haven't played much of anyone but Wake Forest coming in at 6-1 with their only loss to Clemson is a big surprise in my mind.

Wisconsin at 6-1 as well. Sure, they got beat down by Michigan but their schedule looks like they have a road to being a one loss Big Ten team - not having to play Ohio State. Wow, if Ohio State loses a random game and beats Michigan there would be a 3 way tie atop the Big Ten.

Boston College is also pretty good with one loss - to NC State. I figured them a middle of the road ACC team this year.

Bad:

FSU
Miami
Virginia Tech

I'm sensing an ACC trend here......

Good:

Wake Forest (6-1): Yeah, not a tough schedule for these guys yet, but in the past, they'd be 3-4 or so by now.

Missouri (6-1): Also an easy schedule, but they didn't play a close game until last weekend's loss to A&M.

Pitt (6-1): Another easy schedule, but they've looked good in 6 of those 7 games. Palko and Co. will give WVU a tough time, and if they have anything left in the tank the next week, Louisville, too.

Bad:

Florida State
Miami
Fresno State
Toledo
TCU
Utah
Central Florida
