Somebody has to say it, "The surveillance system works."
In the two or three days before the arrests, the cell was going operational, and authorities were pressed into action. MI5 and Scotland Yard agents tracked the plotters from the ground, while a knowledgeable American official says U.S. intelligence provided London authorities with intercepts of the group's communications.

Funny that everyone is claiming their intel led UK to this info. Who is right? And funny how releasing the details of this process to gain political support for the spying is cheered but releasing details of this process to decry illegal/unconstitutional processes is condemned. Why is giving specific details of how these terrorists are snuffed out fine and any other way evil and aiding and abetting terrorists?

There is a world of difference in the "detail" that is released. Further, since part of these techniques have already been made public via leaks it does no further damage to suggest the surveillance techniques are being used.

Also telling is the reports of UK's concern about sharing info for fear it would be leaked!

Actually most of this info came from the US government on specifics. And much of the methods used in this case were different from other released methods. Not to mention specific countries, groups, leaders, and actual names of participants. I'd say everyone with ties to these whose names are released can now figure out that their line is compromised.
