Anyone catch that Yankees/Orioles game from June 28th that was completed tonight? The game was "suspended" in the 8th inning almost a month ago... what happened to just calling the game after it's an official game?

I went and checked the scoreboard from that day and the game was stopped with the Yankees leading 8-6 in the top of the 8th... they had just taken the lead and were still batting. Would the Yankees taking the lead in the top half of the inning that the game was called/"suspended" have something to do with it? Does the home team get a chance to come back in their half?

That would make sense... give the home team a chance to come back and finish out the inning. That had to be the reason.

The craziest thing I've heard is that according to MLB rules, any stats from the completion of a suspended game count for the original date, so if A-Rod had homered during the suspended game, his 499th HR that he hit earlier this week would in fact become his 500th HR.
