Of the five weekly picks Scott Van Pelt makes, one of them is that we cover. Hope he's right.

Given the number of recruits UT has and how poorly UT has played in the national spotlight not only this year but in the last 3 (save for maybe the NCSU game last year)...

I'll be happy if UT covers.

It's kind of sad, but that's where we are. I'd rather cover and feel like we played our asses off and gave UGA a good game than get blown out (again) on national television (again) and lose by 30+. Which this UGA team is certainly capable of doing.

Is this a new thing around here? This is the 3rd game now someone has started a thread basically touting someone picked us to cover.

It's just something related to UT football. That's what this forum is mostly about. Not up to your standards, I guess.

Honestly?

I don't where the national confidence is coming from. We played very poorly against Oregon, lost to Florida by 14 (and got outgained by 162 yards) and struggled to beat South Alabama at home.

I think there is definitely an element of surprise. Most TSR folks I've heard are all picking UGA to cover as well as all of the UT fans I know personally. I don't know anyone non-VN that follows UT football that is expecting UT to cover the 10 points.

And the 10 points is surprisingly low. Florida had an exponentially worst offense with Driskel and Florida was picked by 17? Being @Neyland isn't worth that much, IMO.

I think it was more about the differences between Florida's defense and Georgia's defense. Couple in the fact that Florida gets 3 points for its home field advantage and Tennessee receives 3 points for its home field advantage and 10 1/2 points is about right.

10 1/2 is not about right it is insanely low to the point that something smells fishy.

The only things I can see is UGA having the letdown game, UT overdue on a break, and the fact that Richt screws up seemingly once a season.

That's all I got.

We haven't been covering, even in the "cupcake" games, so it is a vote of confidence-- of sorts. Of course, some think we'll cover because Richt will pull his starters before halftime to avoid injuries and let the backups get experience in a hostile venue. Their 3s can beat us if we continue to gas our D with 3 and outs and Worley continues to throw to the turf and giftwrap INTs.

I'm hoping for another 2009 but prepared for 2012.

I will bet the house that we don't cover 10. They scored 44 on a great defense. How are we scoring more than 20 against an SEC without a lot of turnovers? We will lose 42-17 and that is being generous.

We CAN NOT stop a running QB

Seems like we have reached the point where it is now noteworthy enough for a thread, if one expert picks us to cover the (usually large) spread vs any decent opponent. My how far Tennessee Football has fallen.

I'd rather win.

We are that last pickle in the bottom of the barrel the one that's shrunk up, but a new jar is on the way the bad thing it will take a year and half to get here, like 2015.

Though he is considered duel threat, I don't look for their QB to run a lot. This should work in UT's favor. The game is at home and UGA runs a more traditional offense. These should also be favorable for the VOLS D.

If UT's offense could keep the ball for more than 3 plays per series, maybe, just maybe we cover or even pull off the upset.

Formula to enjoy the Vols tomorrow: no expectations + hope to be surprised x plenty of Jack Daniels = good day @ Neyland
