Why isn't there an alumni chapter in Roanoke and surrounding SW Virginia? The only chapter I could find was Richmond. Really? There has to be a bunch of alumni and fans in and around Roanoke. This will be my first football season in the area. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I would really enjoy watching the Vols kick A$$ with some fellow alums and fans in the Star City. Anyone out there that has any inside info on any gatherings in and around Roanoke, let me know. GO VOLS!

I'd love it if there were an alumni chapter in Roanoke. I was involved with one when I lived in south Florida and it was great. Been back in Roanoke for a couple years and haven't heard of any type of watch groups around here.

Well, we might just have to start one up. There was a great chapter in Greenville, SC where we moved from. I'd be happy to help lead but I'm out of town quite a bit for biz and pleasure. However, that wouldn't prevent me from coordinating some gatherings for the games.
Where would be a good gathering place? My personal favorites are Village Grill in Grandin, Allsports out towards PH Highschool, Martins downtown or even Awful Arthur's.
We can make this happen.

I like all of the places you named. Martins could be tough for night games because they have bands practically every night.

Another place that might be good is Fork In The City (downtown near the Cotton Mill Lofts).

I'm not sure what all creating an alumni chapter entails, and similarly travel out of town a good amount, but I'm sure we could figure something out.

Dublin VA right here. We need to have some get together around the NRV and Roanoke you're exactly right. Cool spots down here in Radford and a few in Roanoke I go to we could all go to. Also we need to get some tailgates together this year!

The alumni chapter used to meet very regularly a few years ago at 419 west and Awful Arthur's downtown but the members who participated the most were an older crowd. I believe some of the members get together sparingly. Give me a few days and I'll see if they have an email list of members. I tried to get some information about getting this ramped up a few years ago. In the late 90's they actually had alumni dinners for rising freshman.

Unfortunately, I'm all the way in big stone gap, just a few miles from the Kentucky border. There's normally about 8 of us watching the game in my living room, when I'm not in Neyland. Too many damn hokie and bammers here

Uvavol....That sounds great. Let me know what you find. Even if we aren't an official chapter, it would be great to get together for some game watching. GO VOLS!

The Roanoke alumni association disbanded years ago. There are plenty of Vols in the area, so I don't think it would be difficult to get one back up and running. Like somebody had said earlier, they got together at 419 West and Awful Arthurs at Towers. AA's/Growlers would be awesome if it hadn't shut down. There are plenty of places in the area to get together though. Cornerstone has an upstairs area that I don't believe fills up unless there is an event, The Quarter has a large upstairs area and I am not sure if it is open yet, the brewery that is going in downtown would be a cool place to go.

This all sounds promising. I'll actually be at the Utah St game but will be excited to get together with the local Vol fans for other games. I guess best idea would be to establish a place that will host us on a regular basis.

I'll also be at the Utah State game and would love to meet up with some of yall before the game. Whether it be tailgating or at Sweet P's bbq.. either would be awesome. I also like Sharkeys in Radford for games. Lots of TVs and good food and the best happy hour ever.. 32 different taps and even more bottles of beer.

No luck on an email list gentlemen. I would be up for participating but I'm not really able to get an alumni group up and running with my work schedule at this time.
