NEW YORK (AP) - Terrell Owens was fined $35,000 by the NFL on Monday for spitting in the face of Atlanta's D'Angelo Hall during Saturday night's Cowboys-Falcons game.

The flamboyant Dallas receiver was not suspended.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello announced the fine, which came after Hall knocked Owens out of bounds on a pass play during Dallas' 38-28 win.

"I got frustrated and I apologize for that," Owens told the NFL Network after the game. "It was a situation where he kept bugging me and getting in my face."

If the officials had seen Owens spitting, he would have been ejected from the game under NFL rules.

During a playoff game last season, Washington's Sean Taylor was kicked out of a game for spitting at Tampa Bay's Michael Pittman. Taylor was later fined $17,000.

That is a slap on the wrist. Also, I hate the fact he apologized for getting frustrated, not for spitting in someone's face.
considering the highest fine for such an act, that i know of anyway, was $17k, yeah, i was surprised at how much.

and at least he apologized for something, for once.

Disagree Jake, apologizing for getting frustrated is not an apology. He spit at someone's face. An apolgy should be directed at the person that was spit at.

TO's a punk and causes trouble on every team he's on except for my fantasy team which he got 17 points for last week. Seriously though, if I was a GM I wouldn't even consider him if I was looking for WR's.

.14% of his entire contract what a punishment! His only concern is if his bank will let him withdraw that much at once, or if he can find it in his sofa. That would be equal to someone who makes 40,000 getting fined $56

What gets me is that now he is saying that IF he did it, it was an accident. After he apologized for it on TV! Come on, man, at least stand up and own what you did.

Note to TO: Those funny little boxes they are pointing at you record what you say for people to review later. Quit contradicting yourself.
