Per Mike Griffith KNS.

Also mentions that Ramar was not cleared by the clearinghouse as of Friday. It's good to get these guys on campus. Do we need to start a basketball countdown? :biggrin2:

When do you want to start the Bruce Pearl to the Pacers countdown? Oops. Did I let that slip? Pretend I didn't write that.

It's certainly nothing imminent. Pacer management is very impressed with Coach Pearl, but they're into Rick Carlisle for a bunch of money. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this possibility.

I'm as impressed with Pearl as Pacer management, but is he a good fit for the NBA? Our record last year, with the level of talent we had, is proof that he's a good X and O guy who can coach his rear off...but his strength seems to be that he's a players coach with an obvious knack for recruiting. Not that I doubt he could get it done in the NBA (the guy's a winner), I just think he seems better suited for the college game (specifically in Knoxville). :cross:

I think your assessment is accurate. The jump from college to the pros has proven exceptionally perilous as of late. However, it's hard to pass up NBA money.

After getting exiled to Division II because of the Illinois recording, I think Pearl is eager to prove himself as one of the college's games greatest coaches. If he does go to the NBA, I don't think it will happen anytime soon.
