Taggart out at FSU

FSU message boards, citing credible "sources" with connections to the athletic department, claiming contract signed with BGB and announcement on Sunday.

Man, I've seen this movie once or twice before. Bless their hearts.

To the layman, it looks like Kiffin would be a no-brainer for FSU...just tailor the contract correctly.

BGB?

Pretty sure Weinke was largely brought it because of supposed recruiting connections anyway (IMG), but he hasn't delivered there. Pruitt certainly could find a better QB coach.
I’m neutral on Weinke but do we know he is not that good. For the people complaining about him, what inside information or direct observation of his relationships with the Qb’s do you have?

Just speculation from the media and fans. Weinke was the HC of IMG's football team from 2010-14 and was also the director of their football academy. He was dispatched quickly from the LA Rams QB coach job, then was an analyst for a year at Alabama, and now has been a position coach at a couple different positions here. Based on the obvious potential recruiting connections he has at IMG and given the jobs he's bounced around since, it seems like a reasonable opinion.

Ok, what do you base the statement “he hasn’t delivered here?

Kiffin probably is a great recruiter but has he really had any long-term success as a Head Coach. His dream job was USC and he failed miserably. He had one good season where he is now but did he keep the program strong after that ?

He hasn't been the lead recruiter on many top recruits, and I don't know if he's gotten a single one from IMG. So he can't recruit and/or doesn't have the ins at IMG like some figured he would.
I understand if the IMG connection has not produced results but he is the Qb coach. How do you know that Pruitt could bring in a better Qb coach. Just maybe, Weinke is the best Qb coach in college football, who is to say he is not ?

pretty much anyone.

Mullen, Kiffin, Jimbo. heck he may not even be the best QB coach on staff, Chaney is at least perceived as better. and he has been on staff for two years and only had the job for one. it doesn't speak highly to your position skills if you cant even get the job on the same staff.

I even forgot Lincoln Riley.

There is one name that isn’t mentioned in any coaching searches, but Will Healey at Charlotte is going to be a rock star. If I were Arkansas or FSU, I would at least look that way.......before someone else does.JMO

Went to high school with him (he was 3 grades above me). Incredible HS QB and I believe still holds many Chattanooga passing records. Lost in the state title game his senior year. I think his main calling card is that he's an incredible recruiter. His rise has been absolutely meteoric...he might be well-served to stay at Charlotte for a bit, or perhaps have his first job at the P5 level be as an OC. But if he improves even more in 2020, a P5 job might come calling. Good for him.

It'll be a few years before he gets a P5 job.
