If there is anything that needs to be legislated as a result of this, it is a revisit of people who have obvious apparent mental conditions that need help. That of course, is just an IMO.

We should avoid the temptation of doing anything that would squelch political free speech and dissent based on this tragic but extremely rare act.

Progressives don't see those people as enemies Rasputin... they see them as victims... of Tea Party attending, gun toting, Bible thumping right wingers who by nothing more than exercising their freedoms and rights have oppressed those poor people... to include Islamic radicals.

I oppose legislation that would stifle the right wing hate machine.

I support the right wing hate machine collectively deciding that they can say everything they want in a less incendiary or threatening or violence-endorsing manner.

Right now, everyone is jockeying for position. Hopefully, when the dust settles, the result will be that at the next speech, the next rally, words will be chosen with a little more care.

You are so gracious LG... now if you could just take off those blinders and use the same standard to judge the "left wing hate machine". I can pretty much guarantee there is more HATE on the side that believes America is a really messed up place with oppression everywhere that needs to be 'fundamentally transformed' than on the side that believes America is an exceptional and good place where people's rights and liberties should be protected.

In reality, it's a moderate mixture of both. It's a somewhat messed up place where people's rights and liberties should be (and are, for the most part) protected.
