Well as the title states, one of my best friends is a Bama fan. To be fair, he's originally from Alabama so Alabama football is what he was raised on. Lucky for him, I've decided to give him a taste of the night lights of Neyland Stadium this Sunday. He's only ever been to the hell hole of the South, aka, Bryant-Denny Stadium, so I'm anxious to see his reaction when he steps foot into Neyland Stadium for the first time ever Sunday night. I feel like he's underestimating just how passionate the Volunteer faithful are when it comes to our love for the Vols, and I expect that passion to come out in full force on a beautiful Sunday evening in Knoxville! From the Vol Navy, to the parking lots flooded with tailgaters, all the way to the orange clad VFL's lining up on the hill at the chance to high five Coach Jones and our Volunteers as they enter the gates of Neyland Stadium two hours before kickoff! Because to some football is just a game, but in Knoxville, Tennessee, it's a way of life. My friend is about to embark on the trip of lifetime, he just doesn't know it yet. Last thing, don't worry about him wearing that god awful crimson, he's sporting a white SEC shirt this weekend which just so happens to feature the good guys on the back of it. Go Vols!

As a Vol fan the Vol walk is one of the greatest things I've ever experienced as a sports fan! Glad he won't be wearing crimson for sure. Hope your friend enjoys the game.

You need to find some new friends!!

Seriously, I hope you and your friend have a great time. Will he be joining you for the game on Oct. 25? I'd recommend against it...

I feel your pain lol. My best friend is a gator fan. I'll be taking him to his first game this year when we play Florida. That will be his first Florida game also. I know it's weird he's never seen florida play live. But he's an ok guy lol. But I hope he's speechless

I took a good buddy of mine a couple years ago who unfortunately is an Alabama fan. By the end of the tailgate, and on the way into Neyland, he had accepted the Tennessee cap I brought for him to wear, and put it on. He cheered for the Big Orange that day......

....and then went back to being a bammer. Cool story bro.

My wife has hated UT for as long as I can remember, since she is UGA fan. But there was something about CBJ that she liked. So I took her to the O&W this Spring and she couldn't believe the atmosphere. I told her this isn't anything compared to the actual game time experience. So we are coming up to the game on Sunday. She has been sipping on the Orange Kool-Aid. Purchased a few UT items already, which I will take for time being, I think after the game she will jump over to this side of the fence!
For the record, this is my 2nd game that I've attended. My first was the Vandy game last year, but my seats were in the Adidas skybox and did not get to experience the atmosphere. So am I'm pretty excited to! Not only to see TEAM 118 kick some arse, but hopefully convert the wifey to the Orange side.

Take him to the game. Enjoy the game. Then disappear on him. He'll think it's hilarious as he hitch hikes home.

Friends don't let friends be a Bammer. Remember, getting him to admit he has a problem is the first step toward recovery.

He's lucky to have you.

This planned outing is indeed a fine thing. Setting an example will pay off for this young man down the road.

Did the same thing a few years ago. Took my Bama grad friend and his son. He did fine until we went to Hounddogs. He couldn't make it through the door. Said there was way too much orange! :) his son did go in though. :p After that trip his son now says he wants to go with mine to Tennessee in about 6 years!

Bring him on down. Hopefully he will have a Big Orange religious experience and see his need to walk the straight and narrow path to deliverance.

Unfortunately, I had to go to a college other than the place I should have went regardless. My roommate from down there is one of my best friends to this day. I took him to Neyland and when that T opened up and the players come out...he was covered in chill bumps and looked at me and said "how could a kid come see this and go play anywhere else". I said "I been telling you". That's all I got to say about that.
