Anyone else taking their youngsters? Any suggestions on kid friendly things to do to keep him from being bored before kickoff?

The Vol Walk, the 'Village' type thing the university puts on across from Peyton Manning Pass (there's face painting, games, and activities that a young one would enjoy).

Thanks! I've never paid attention to anything for the kids to do. It's gonna be a different pre-game than what I'm used to. I'm definitely taking him to the Vol Walk.

Be sure to not let him see you ogle the cheerleaders. He'll pick that up soon enough, LOL.

He will love it. My oldest son was 2 1/2 when we took him to his first game. 1998 vs Texas Tech. Bobby Denton called Travis Henry's name many times that day. After the game, my boy turned to me and said "Dad, I Travis Henry".

For six months after that, there were people at church who thought his name was Travis Henry because that's what he told them. Someone stopped us in the hall one day and said "Hi, Travis." He noticed our expressions of bewilderment. That's how we found out what he was telling people.

My daughter is 7 and I just took her to her third game. I took her when she turned 5 and now we go to 1 a year. She gets all dressed up in her cheerleading outfit, takes a camera, and loves all the pre-game activities. She absolutely loves the Vol walk and the other things posters have mentioned. There is a ton to do. Actually, she is pretty well spent by halftime because we are so busy with pre-game stuff. In my experience, other fans go out of their way to make sure kids have a great experience as well. So many strangers have stopped and talked to my daughter, given her things, etc. It really is a great experience and one I hope she will cherish for a lifetime. It's what makes it more than a game for us. It will be that for you and your son. Enjoy every second of it, it's a beautiful thing to have those times with our kids. They will remember them.

I took my son to his first game last year. After leaving the stadium he looked at me and said "my favorite song is Walky Talk!"

Make sure you take them to Volunteer Village in the Humanities Plaza area near the Torchbearer. Like the other guy said, games, face paint, cheerleaders, food, etc. & there is always at least 1 other UT sports team signing autographs. I think this starts 3 hrs before kickoff. You'll be right next to the Vol Walk also, which is 2:15 before K/O, then the band follows about 45 min after the Vol Walk along the same route.

ENJOY!!!
Go Vols!

Just a suggestion...I don't know if it will be as loud as the GA game, but some earplugs or headset might be a good thing for little ears.

I'm also taking my son(4 years old) to his first game!! I am so excited to get to introduce him to the greatest sports experience in the world!!! And yes I agree and will have ear plugs on hand because it's gonna be LOUD when we dominate the chickens!!!

4 might be too young, just IMO

Maybe. But, my 2 1/2 year old loved every minute of it and the noise was no issue. He was on the edge of his seat the entire game. Took him to every home game in '98 except Florida. I wouldn't expect the USCe game to be as loud as UGA last two weeks ago as I believe students are on break.

Don't forget that the "Vol Walk" and "Run through the T" will be much bigger events than usual. Personal invitations have been extended to more than 150 former Vols by Coach Jones and Antone Davis, who currently spearheads the Vols for Life Program. Those who return will be asked to not only participate in the pre-game "Vol Walk" but also to run through the "T" with the team in pre-game. See http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...05502-more-incentive-attend-sc-vols-game.html.

Yeah, I noticed that several people with kids left because it was hurting their ears.

I don't know if this is going to have as many tickets sold. I went to UTTIX, still a lot left.
