Talent Level

Can't improve quickly enough. Wow. We need AT LEAST three classes like the one Butch has coming in this year to be deep enough to compete week in and week out in this conference.

First, Butch will be darn lucky to keep the incoming class together after we finish 5-7. Second, don't you ever get tired of the "we don't have the talent" excuse year after year after year after year. Other teams are able to turn it around IMMEDIATELY. Look at what Franklin did in ONE YEAR at Vandy. Look at what Freeze did in ONE YEAR at Ole Miss. Look at what Malzahn did in ONE YEAR at Auburn. Look at what Pinkel did in ONE YEAR at Missouri. You also need to look at the recruiting class rankings for the past 5 years and you will find that Tennessee has ranked higher than these teams most years except for Auburn and last year's Mississippi class. Find another excuse ... GOOD GRIEF!!!

we been saying this since 2006 when will we hold the coaches responsible for the game plan?

Accountability now for not spying the QB, blowing coverages and taking bad angles etc ....
But talent? Hey we have the #1 class on rivals now. We will get better. Jones may have to replace his DC but we will get better.

How many coaching changes has Missouri had in the last 5 years?

They don't need one. They are 7-1. Their coaching staff is just fine.

The only reason they had a hard time last year was because they had a bad luck injury year similar to what UGA is going through this year.

I think our coaches did a very poor job of preparing for this game on both sides of the ball. The defense does not have a clue. Mizzou can get 5 yards on any play they choose to run. And our offensive scheme does nothing to cause indecision along the front 7 of their defense. They are just pinning their ears back and coming after Dobbs.

Exactly, Auburn, Vandy, and Ole Miss could do it.

Your reference to anomalies is astute. I suppose Saban's first year was his 'Year 0'. How about Hoke at Michigan?

Great success in year one doesn't always result in lasting success either. See Chizek at Auburn.

Next year's schedule will not be much easier than this year with a much less experienced team so we will be lucky to get 6 wins for another season. Not sure what it is going to take to turn this program around!

No guys listen Butch is supposed to overachieve with subpar Dooley players and guys that aren't even on the team anymore. Maybe the ghost of Jonathan Crompton will return and save our sorry *****

It's a cycle of disappointment

Just making an example. Even Doley out recruited MO.

A year's recruiting rankings/stars are maybe only what, half to a third of how a team actually performs on the field though.

Gameplay/experience factors, there's attrition/loss of players over the years, whether the player actually turns out as well as he's ranked, if he actually fits or works in the system the coaches run, and others.

Yeah Alabama's streak of #1 classes haven't translated to results. Rankings don't mean crap!

Just stop! We have the talent to compete with MO, we had a piss poor game plan and preparation. That's on CBJ!

You don't think how good Saban is with gameplanning and recruiting the players that best fit the system he runs has something to do with it to?

You think if you throw Rich Rod out with Saban's classes you'll just get the same results?

I think that factor on the other end is what you're leaving out...maybe he gets exactly the players he needs for his system and they run that system well. Maybe Pinkel isn't a terrible coach; the guy's 98–62 there alone (and 171–99–3 overall)...you don't get there just because your team recruits at X level and thus only wins X games.

No never mind; it's all recruiting rankings

Could be more about chemistry than talent.
Actually have shown some at home this season, but leave it in their lockers when they get on the bus.
Haven't even had it at home previous 3 years though.
A group of talented guys that don't mesh.

UT has to be the worst road team the past 5 years that I have ever seen.
And on paper, we won't be able to match up with the UGA and FL and Bamas unless we recruit 3 straight years of top 10 classes. That's going to be EXTREMELY difficult to do because after this year the Butch hype dies down and he must win some games next year to keep the recruiting up. If he can't, we will continue to fail.
