What a wonderful, thoughtful gesture by the management of the Bucs!! First class. I am blown away.

I think it had way more to do with Greg Schiano being the head coach than it did with the Bucs management. Very nice move.

But we all know the Chiefs wouldn't do this. The management in that organization is nuts. Gilberry just found out yesterday that he was cut because a rookie posted on twitter that he'd be wearing his number. A-hole move.

Taken from the si.com link:
I believe I will walk again. I do. When that happens, I already know what I'm going to do. I'll go to Giants Stadium and find the exact spot in the field where I went down. I'll lie there for a second. And then I'll get up on my own power and walk away.

If anything was ever boom-worthy, it is this.

BOOM!

I believe this man will walk again. There's always doctors that tell people with his kind of injuries they'll never walk again, but yet some will rehab and keep faith and will walk again. Glad to see the bucs signed him. Good for Eric.

I'm not tooting my own horn here, but as a PT that works with spinal cord injuries just like this, it is fairly uncommon (at least in my area) to see people with this sort of an outlook on their prognosis. And he even said, he's got an athlete's mind, which is definitely something composed of an iron will and unmatched determination. I wish that more of my patients had this sort of an outlook towards their own rehab, regardless of the diagnosis. This kid is truly an inspiration and is just one of the reasons that makes my job so rewarding.

Gilberry was a free agent. The Chiefs did not cut him. They let his contract expire and decided not to retain him. He's been a FA for a while now. Not a classless move.

Back on topic, very classy move by the Bucs.

For those who don't know who he is, here is his story. Long story short, he sustained a spinal cord injury to the cervical spine in 2010 playing in a game against Army that left him a quadraplegic. He's made significant progress since then.

Great read.

Inspiring young man.

I'm thankful for the sports community and the football community in general. I'm reluctant to start in with examples here because, inevitably, I'll leave someone out. But I've gotten letters from everyone from Joe Paterno to Bill Belichick to Lane Kiffin. Tom Coughlin paid me a visit at the hospital. I have dozens of signed footballs and jerseys with my number, 52, on the back. Andy Reid came to visit me multiple times and called on Sundays before Eagles games. (Sometimes he'd even tell me the first play his team was going to run!) I've become friends with Malcolm Brown -- the whole Army program, really -- and have a lot of Army gear. I was at an NCAA basketball game in Newark near my house and a guy handed me a Devils hockey jersey. When he left, I saw that it was signed by Martin Brodeur. I recently went to a baseball game as a guest of the Mets. David Wright walked over and handed me a bat. I joke that we need an entire room in our home to store all the gear I've gotten. But what's more important is the support. Trust me, it makes a difference
