Again, I think fit is a big thing with Heupel. I also think he's well aware that just like regular recruiting, you have to expect some fall out from additions. You go get a stud RB from bama and what does that tell someone like Sampson? Khalifa? It's a delicate thing and a balancing act. I see the portal as bridging the gap in regular recruiting and the realities of our roster. Filling holes in other words. But not at any expense. Above all you value and protect that culture you've worked so hard to build. Heupel isn't going to hit the portal and replace a 1/3 of his roster. Just not happening.Being gutted by the portal, mostly former 4 and 5 star prospects. Hope we take a chance on some of em. A talent upgrade at certain positions could have been the difference in the uga game this year.

Eh I disagree entirely. You don’t have to sacrifice culture to add someone to the roster. Just cause you bring someone in, doesn’t mean they’ll play. They got to get here, be at the bottom of the depth chart, and earn it. Think bru mccoy, lyn j Dixon, etc. Heupel has shown nobody is coming in and taking reps away without earning them, and they ain’t staying if they don’t fit the culture. And if a current player is scared of that healthy type of competition, that player ain’t gonna matter anyways when they get recruited over by next years HS class.Again, I think fit is a big thing with Heupel.
